Please tell me it was going to be based on the song by Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

Use Eric. Eric's reach and moveset are awesome. John can sit this one out.

I've been using Eric. I think what's throwing me the most is the character movement is Classicvania style but many of the enemies are extremely mobile like a Metroidvania.

Bloodlines is brutally difficult. I could only beat it with Eric and only on the "easy" difficulty.
For as crazy-hard "normal" is, your reward for beating it is unlocking EXPERT DIFFICULT. I have no idea what kind of madman can beat the game on *that* difficulty but it's the only way to see the FULL ENDINGS. I don't know what kind of madman can beat the game on expert. Largely because the password system keeps track of your lives/continues.
I wish the game had infinite continues...

To be fair, the continues are the best continues ever in a Castlevania game. You start at the last checkpoint when you continue.

As for what madman can beat Expert, go watch Klaige's runs. He's the current WR holder for both PCs in Bloodlines.

Also, if you want to see how awesomely janky the hitboxes are in Bloodlines, check this out:

After so many "30 FPS is as good as 60FPS" debates I shouldn't be surprised, but seeing people vehemently defend games running at 20 FPS and lower makes my stomach turn.

According to many this also makes me a gatekeeping elitist with Gamergate sympathies which is beyond baffling.

You probably shouldn't take this stuff to heart too much, people are dumb.

Although, which games are we talking about here. With modern stuff, it's indefensible. 5th gen games though? I love a lot of those with frame rates that can plummet pretty low.

Nightdive Studios ported the original Turok to PC. And it's on Steam:

It looks like they managed to remove the crippling amount of fog that plagues those games. I hope they do it to Turok 2. The PC port was tough to play with all the fog.
