Well what do you know, I'm not alone in wanting to freeze Islamic immigration. It's primarily old people and whites that disagree with me. And these results are from MSNBC, of all places. Image

I have to think there is a wording problem with the question. Those poll results are the opposite of what i'd expect to see. It was probably worded more closely to, "Do you agree with Donald Trump's...".

These polling companies - in the business of conducting polls and nothing else, still manage to word questions to where there is ambiguity.

The exact wording of the question was, "Has Donald Trump gone too far with his plan to ban all Muslims?"

So you feel validated that other people are bigoted in the same way you are?

"Bigot" is basically the same term as "SJW," but used for people on the other side of the aisle. It's just a buzzword in 2015.

Anyway, yeah, I do feel a bit validated. Why wouldn't I feel that way upon discovering my supposedly bigoted opinions are actually popular?

Just for clarity's sake, I'm not saying that being popular makes something right.

Have you ever been contacted by a polling agency? The question put up on the screen is unlikely the script the person calling on the phone was asking. They are generally worded so poorly you are guessing as to which way you should answer to get your view understood.

There is no way that poll is accurate. I live in the world and the people more offended by Trumps latest comments are largely younger, more liberal minded. The older folks don't have nearly as much of a problem with it. This is consistent in every circle i've discussed this in. The poll is backwards and not reliable.

Bigot =/= Social Justice Warrior. SJW as it has been coined on the internet, usually is a derogatory term that internet trolls created who don't understand the intent behind social justice is to be inclusive rather than divisive. Some (SJW's) people don't engage in the conversation well (accept my opinion or else) are poignant and abrasive, which turns people off who want to learn about power and oppression and why diversity and inclusion are important.

I think it's interesting that you believe that social justice warriors, who are often commenting on the systemic or institutionalized inequitites that benefit others on the basis of identity are also bigots. When in fact bigot just means being intolerant of other's opinions. The difference is who holds the privileged place within society? There's some nuance there that I think would tease out some clear dynamics of privilege and oppression. Isn't it important to speak out against unjust systems in order to advance our community/society/species? Or is the status quo more important?

However, trump is a fascist, racist, bigoted old man. There's nothing but fearmongering and hatred behind those words. All rhetoric and no policies. I'm not living in fear being in SE Michigan which has a considerable amount of people living here who identify as Muslim, Arab, Persian, etc.

If anything, the media should start to pull back on what airtime they give his putrid soapbox from here on out. His political strategist doesn't seem to pull back on his fanatical tirades, that's for sure. If this is what the GOP fields for 2016, good luck winning the presidency. Just even more of an identity crisis for the "Government of the People".

Can you imagine the perception the rest of the world would have towards us with Trump at the helm? I certainly can't. Would certainly erode diplomatic relations with a lot of countries in the world.

Trump is also a hypocrite. He does plenty of business with people from the middle east and his supposed dislike of Muslims doesn't seem to matter when he's lining his pocket.

Trump plays to whatever audience is in front of him.

Who knows what his actual opinions are, because he's never given them.
