Some of the Ys games Bone has beaten aren't exactly a piece of cake.

Sigh, I'm thinking about just saying "fuck it" and just doing the final X-COM mission. I'm afraid of going in unprepared, but I'm sick of training up dudes only to have them killed, running out of Elerium-115, raiding bases, and save scumming. Hopefully I can just bash this last mission out and finish the game.

Really in my opinion nobody can truely "stink" at games in general. They can stink at specific ones which demand a specific skill like memory, reflexes, or strategy that they are lacking but there are always ways to get around that.

For instance some of the older arcade games are hard as balls and require nearly perfect reflexes however.. you can just memorize the enemy pathing and take the fun out of it :P.

Very true. I have never been a, "By the numbers," game player and when things boil down to crunching numbers, be it stats or gear information in order to succeed, I tend to fall flat.

A very random thought is, do you folks remember Sid Meier's Sim Golf? That game was addicting as all get out! Building, running and playing a golf course was never so addicting. I need to fire that game up again.

I highly recommend it to any sim fan.

The training is less important than having good gear. Also, be forewarned that the last level is a two part mission and failure is a game over.

Isn't Outrun a racer? I'd argue it's probably one of the hardest genres out there.

Those Rush games got EXTREME, but I think F-Zero GX and Star Wars Episode 1 Pod Racer are a few that make Dark Souls / etc look like a joke.

It's not a racing game. It's a driving game.

Seriously though - you're just cruising down the highway trying to beat a strict time limit while avoiding hazards. You're not pitted against other drivers for placing.

I can't stop hearing that laugh in my head now though.

Oh thank fuck, I was afraid that I was going to have to fuck with Psionic Training and increasing the ranks of my soldiers for more Time Units. I'm frustrated that I wasted a ton of time trying to get more Captains and Colonels, but I'm more relieved.

Also, be forewarned that the last level is a two part mission and failure is a game over.
Good thing I'm a master at save scumming. ;)

Anyway, I beat a bit ago finally. That's a strategy biggie that I've been meaning to complete for years now. Though not as long as StarCraft. ;) I'm planning to post about it and Sam & Max Hit the Road tomorrow in the Games Beaten Thread.
