Probably a reason they bought ThinkGeek? The industry also seems dead-set on continuing to make physical merchandise, even if the software itself doesn't need a hard copy - Skylanders, Disney Infinity, Amiibo, etc.

I think Gamestop could stand to implement some sort of condition rating system in general. As it is, outside of preorders or something, I won't usually order things online from them anymore. While I don't especially want to buy a gut copy, in-store, I am at least made aware of the fact that it's all they have left, and given the option to decline the purchase based on that.
What gets me more is buying something "new" on their site, and getting some random store's gut copy, stickers and all (at least when I worked there, we made a point to clean them up when someone bought them).
Used, who knows what you'll get. Again, at least in-store, I can say something if I bring a nice looking case up, and they grab some generic box out of the drawer to actually sell me.

If they've opened it, it dings the rating and makes it cost less. Trade-in and used values should also adjust based on condition. That's how most other game sales work.

As-is, it makes Gamestop largely in-store only for me...which isn't great for them, considering I make most of my purchases online.

Welcome to my life.
Ditto. I rely on a 4G access point. My city is getting fiber, but I'm just outside of the reach of it, and what's worse, I've never been able to get cable or DSL, despite only being two miles outside the city limits. Ugh. (I'm in Mississippi, by the way.)

One thing that has always bugged me at Gamestop is return policy abuse and I've even been told by employees to basically treat "shitty" or short games as rentals before  . I mean it's nice having 14 days to return a for nothing more then that fact that "I don't like it" but I've seen so many people abuse it that in the long run I feel like it just leads people to believe return fraud is okay :P.

Yeah out in here in the sticks I'm on a 4G cellular modem as well. Can't get DSL or cable or fiber where I'm at. Apparently I couldn't play PS4 games where I live even if I wanted to.

Living in the sticks is worth it though. I don't like neighbors or urbanity in general.

There's a middle ground between living in Deliverance and living in the city.
