Well if they're buying new games that aren't actually new, I'd say they aren't that meticulous.

I wonder what will happen to GameStop once the world does go fully digital. Will they become a retro gaming store by inevitability?

It's a day I hope never comes. I'm already hating having to download 50+ GB of patches and such as soon as I bought my PS4. I had to drag the console up to work to get it done. And I didn't even download Uncharted, which is another 40+ GB! Downloading that much data is a massive pain in the butt.

Digital only won't come until a sufficient majority has fat internet pipes. We're on our way to getting there but it's still several years out, unfortunately. At that point if you still live in an area with shitty internet you'll be SOL.
