Xenoblade Chronicles X
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles X
Man, I can't wait until the game is out and we can finally concentrate on gameplay.
If my copy comes today, I'll let you all know what I think.

At the same time, they did publish Bayonetta 2, Ninja Gaiden 3, and Devil's Third - and they did bring Fatal Frame over as well, even if bonus outfits were changed. It's not as though they're the only ones that do stuff like that - outfits in Tera got censored for Western release, meanwhile Heroes of the Storm models have been changed for China.Exhuminator wrote: It's just insultingly disingenuous that in Japan Nintendo doesn't mind publishing mature oriented material, but they still want to fake a faux squeaky clean image in the west. Like we don't all have the internet and can't see behind the rising sun over here.
Nothing they adjusted changed the core experience of the game. I can see removing the breast slider within the context that there are a zillion options for face/hair/skin tone/etc. Overall body though, there's what, a slider for size, and then for women a breast slider. Far as I've seen, that's it. All the potential adjustments for body type, and that's the one thing to be able to change?
I suspect that if it were one of several adjustments, with parity for male characters, it wouldn't have been an issue.
Perhaps it's less the actual content, but the selectiveness of it. It's not like Nintendo has shied away from that, uh, region before.
Reminder, the antagonist for Hyrule Warriors wouldn't look out of place in Senran Kagura:

I want a dick size slider.
I genuinely could care less that some costumes were removed. I want to play the game, not obsess over costume choices.

I just want to play the exact same game that Japan got to play, albeit in English. I really don't think that's too much to ask of NOA.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

I want fewer unnecessary changes to be made during localization, so that (a) games can potentially come out quicker, and (b) the localization process is cheaper and more efficient - hopefully allowing more games to be released.BogusMeatFactory wrote:...

There was recently a discussion where it was lamented that gamers don't understand the cost and difficulty associated with localizing a game, and how that tied Nintendo's hands in what/when things could be released in the west. Maybe this is related, in that they want to do localization once for all English regions so need to pander to the strictest set of standards possible. Seems unlikely when Europe and North America use separate translations though.

The cost it takes to remove a costume is infinitely cheaper than translating a supposedly 77 hour game.ejamer wrote:I want fewer unnecessary changes to be made during localization, so that (a) games can potentially come out quicker, and (b) the localization process is cheaper and more efficient - hopefully allowing more games to be released.BogusMeatFactory wrote:...
