Xenoblade Chronicles X

Just pre-ordered the collector's edition of this game. It's predecessor was among my favorite games on the Wii (a console with MANY amazing games), and my second most played game on it after mario kart (102 hours of mario kart vs 99 hours and 40 minutes of xenoblade) so I'm REALLY looking forward to this one.

The battle system seems really addicting and the world a joy to explore.

There was also an article on the director's past work just published on eurogamer:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015- ... ing-worlds

so this guy is responsible for the epicness of the ff6 opening. I guess it makes sense that since he loves mecha so much he would make the magiteck armor look cool.

Anyone else excited?

For Xenoblade fans, it's probably exciting. But as a bigger Xenogears/Xenosaga fan... maybe not as much.

I loved Xenoblade... but I love Xenogears/Xenosaga WAY more, and unfortunately most of the things I've heard about X are disappointing to me. That it has even less story than Xenoblade (which was a rather basic shounen tale really, but with nice execution), and I liked how Xenoblade while massive, still felt linear in design. But this is more fully open and I'm really feeling the open world fatigue thesedays. I also don't know how I feel about a nameless new hero character, whom I'm guessing doesn't talk or have any lines? I'm a Xeno fan because the old games had absolutely insane stories and was certainly a love/hate thing for most, but this just isn't sounding like what I was hoping for. There were even articles recently that Monolith Soft and Takahashi came out and said they'll focus more on story next time, but that's exactly what they said after the first Xenoblade for this game. So it's hard to take their word for it now.

Also kind of disappointed they recruited an anime composer for the music. That doesn't always work out very well and it's a shame they didn't bring back ACE+ and the other composers from Xenoblade.

I'll have to wait for more impressions. But it pains me to be a little pessimistic about it from things I've heard. I guess I'm that guy that keeps hoping for a real successor to Xenogears/Xenosaga, but at this point I don't know if it'll ever happen as Monolith Soft continues to put gameplay first and the story minimizes more and more by the game. Sue me for being the guy who enjoyed Xenogears' onslaught of text boxes and Xenosaga's onslaught of cutscenes. :(

Interesting. Xenoblade was my first contact with the series, and I have to say I really enjoyed the plot and characters for being what they were. It reminded me of my favorite Final Fantasy games and that's why I loved it so much.

It is disappointing to hear that there is less plot in this game, though I have to wait and see what they mean by it. At least the combat seems amazing, and that was somehting I really enjoyed about the previous game too, so let's wait and see :)

If I have one complaint, it's that Nintendo censored the naughty bits of this game for its western release. Here are some (NSFW?) images to illustrate what I'm talking about:

Sexy young lady mutates into a teenage 90s industrial band member?

Forget about seeing any of these outfits or body models in the USA version of this game.
I'm probably the only pervert person here who cares about this though.

Haha regarding the censorship, you do realise that one of those chicks is supposed to be 13 years old right...? In retrospect, I can see why they censored it. You know, there was controversy with Dead or Alive Dimensions in some parts of Europe, due to the implication that some of the women were supposed to be (or were portrayed as possibly being) minors. I think Nintendo wants to avoid that controversy now...

But as for the game, I am seriously really excited for it. I was fortunate enough to get a chance to play it early this year at the EGX event (EuroGamer... Xhibition?) and the combat was amazing. The overworld seemed incredible as well.

I realize they could have said she was 18 in the western version.

Indeed. I know, it's dumb. I can't stand censorship.

Anyways, the reviews are in. This review has got me excited and I 'trust" Eurogamer far more than most gaming sites http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015- ... s-x-review

SJW's won this time. Censorship sucks no matter how you cut it, so it annoys me too.

Thing is, people keep talking about SJWs, but I don't even think that's the problem now. Surely, people are too busy raging about the CODs and GTAs out there, to give a shit about some side-boob and bare legs in an obscure Japanese RPG?

It's like all the controversy lately with the announcement DOA Xtreme 3 won't be released in the West. Everyone is talking about how SJWs have ruined it for everyone, yet I don't see a single shred of evidence to suggest that there's anyone out there pissed off at any alleged sexism in the game. In fact, it looks like the developers just couldn't be arsed to release it in the West, because, let's face it, it's a niche title that would only sell about 20 copies over here, so they used the excuse that the SJWs would cause a problem.

I agree on DOA there. HappyConsoleGamer had a good video with his wife and two other females on the subject that was a good watch. The previous games sold pretty horribly, so Tecmo probably just don't want to admit it or waste their time losing money by bringing it out over here. But maybe it was a marketing tactic too... people are talking about their game and now the imports could possibly be higher than they would have been if Tecmo never said a word and it still didn't come out over here.

For X here... could very well just be NOA being NOA as usual. Boobs are the most dangerous thing in America.

I just wanted to blame someone!
(which I guess is often an issue)

But seriously yeah censorship and SJW's suck. Grown ass adults crying about what other grown ass adults can and cannot do.
