Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
on the bus today they showed Pixels as one of the movies. It wasn't as bad as I expected. I'm not sure if that's because I can put up w/ bad VG movies more than the next guy, or if because all the bad hype had lowered my expectations so much. Probably both.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Still can't get past the "cheat codes" and other stupidity. It had so much potential, but it's so half assessed that it's sad. It's insane that they managed to get the rights to feature so many "retro" IPs and then only used them as backdrops while Adam Sandler made his usual potty humor jokes

yes the cheat codes thing was silly. So was Q-Bert talking. There's plenty I thought was dumb. And really my biggest complaint was missed opportunities. As in "this joke makes no sense if you're into retro games, so who is this movie aimed at really?" But it still wasn't the worst thing I've ever seen.

Basically everything in the effects department was pretty great. However the writing just sucked and the acting was pretty phoned in.
As a lot of people said it felt like a shity version of the Futurama episode devoted to the same scenario.

Ice Age: Dawn of Dinosaurs
Toy Story 3
Ugh I've lost track there was a few others that i just happened to watch on ABCF over the past few days(which can they make the commercial breaks while watching those any longer? geez) Though with that ABCF name change I hope they keep the 25 days of christmas and keep showing those Rankin Bass movies(the claymation looking ones). I think i'm the only one in my family who hasn't stopped watching those since they are a tradition as much as watching Hocus Pocus around halloween...

I wasn't really interested in it but I heard some great things about the cinematography. Might check it out.CD AGES wrote:Just finished watching Creed (film) today. It's a decent effort as a spinoff to the classic Rocky films. Plot is very predictable, yet well executed with solid performances from both Stallone and Jordan, good pacing and some of the most immersive boxing cinematography i've seen in some time.
I liked it.

Taking a break from games so I'm catching up on a lot of movies I've never seen, mostly older stuff:
Kingpin
The Professional
Swingers
Reservoir Dogs
Half-Baked
The English Patient
Super Troopers
Sid and Nancy
Planes Trains and Automobiles
Clue
"English Patient" sticks out like a sore thumb, I know, but I have a thing about seeing every year's Best Picture winner and I'd never seen that one. It's really not as bad as I was dreading.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Don't feel bad, SNESdrunk, I understand. After my horror movie marathon, I often take a break from watching movies. I finally started going back to them a couple of weeks ago. Since then, this is what I've watched:
They Came to Rob Las Vegas
Dinner at Eight
Spotlight
Grand Illusion
The Constant Gardener
Draft Day
Wes Craven's New Nightmare
Full Moon High
The Unearthly
I wrote about They Came to Rob Las Vegas when I saw it, but I haven't put down any thoughts about the rest. Unfortunately due to the number of them, I don't think I'll be able to spend much time with each to write about them. If you want my thoughts on a particular one, I guess just ask me.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Thanksgiving is usually the MST3k Holiday for my family. So while we enjoyed Gorgo and King Dinosaur, we also hit some real movies.
Inside Out - cute, heartwarming, but alittle bit jarring for me. Story hinged on the Sad one not having control of their actions. That aside, bingbong was the best part.
Bridge of Spies - Tom Hanks at his best. An amazing story, with near flawless execution. Though Tom Hanks and Jimmy Fallon performed a fan rewrite of it that is hysterical:
Black Mass - Johnny Depp really became Whitey. It had some scenes that made my hair raise on end. Easily my favorite Johnny Depp since Blow.
Steve Jobs - Dont watch this for the history of computers at the time, Pirates of Silicon Valley and several excellent books on the subject are out there that cover it better. This is Seth Rogan being Woz, and damn it he is good at it. Recently I have been watching Freaks and Geeks (Rogans first real work), so when the option to see Steve Jobs popped up I was anxious to see how he could handle the role. He was an amazing actor for the short bits he was in. Sadly, he will probably go back to burnout comedies.

I saw Inside Out over the weekend, too and enjoyed it. Def hit me in the feels a few times.
I want to see that new Steve Jobs movie as I am always interested to see any biopic about tech/etc. I've seen Pirates Of Silicon Valley several times, and think it's great. Jobs was alright. I forgot Seth Rogan was in the new one actually. (Freaks & Geeks was one of the best shows ever).
