The best you can do with pre-rendered assets is utilize up-scaling techniques. Going further would require entire recreations and rending those. And if you're doing that, you're well past Remastering, and you're in full remake land.
Not that Grim Fandango shouldn't get a remake, it's just a far larger scope and would have the costs of a new title associated with it.

I've had a rough couple of years losing people close to me. It may have been for that reason, but I found it to be a really touching poignant moment
The feels! Actually I've found that to be another hallmark of Tim Schaefer games; the trademark humor interspersed with quiet, poignant moments of reflection. Year four seems to have a few moments like this.

Guess who finally got around to playing this? It's only past the halfway point of this month.
I pre-ordered this game when it was released this year, so I need to do something with it!
So I got past Year 1 with just a couple of hiccups.
The extra commentary is integrated well into the game too. But I do see why it was popular back in the day.

I've been meaning to go back through the game with the commentary track turned on. I don't know that I'm quite ready to play through again in its entirety quite yet, but the commentary I've heard thus far is pretty entertaining.

Year 2 complete. I feel the same as the rest of you with that ticket puzzle and finding the right window to finish that at. UGH. That was a large area.

I found the game to be much more streamlined after Year 2. Year 2 was really grand in scope, but it made some of the puzzles a pain in the ass.

Year 3 complete! I was surprised by how much shorter it was. But every year has to have an annoying puzzle, and this year's had to be the tumblers. I figured it out well enough, but I was turning the wheel after getting them in position...... instead of using the handle on the door. DERP. I enjoyed the developer commentary in this year as well, it revealed a lot about the engine(s) they were using to make the game.

Game complete. I'm glad I had enough time to play it, the first half of the month was a little busy for me. I'll throw up something on it @ the Games Beaten thread.
