Then why I am always put in charge when we play shooters?

Well Ack the only thing left is for you to get into the ARMA series. That's as hardcore as it gets for single player FPS campaigns. ARMA is basically a descendant of what Operation Flashpoint was. Though I think ARMA is a bit more fair and certainly far more polished.

Decided to get my Catacomb on as part of my 100 game mission. It's amazing just how complex the map can get considering just how limited the engine is (block based) and how small the maps are.

Just finished playing through Goldeneye 007: Reloaded on XBox 360. I wasn't really a big fan of the original Goldeneye but I really enjoyed this. The modern take on the story worked really well and I liked the fact that I could challenge myself with stealthing as much of the levels as I could knowing I'd be able to shoot my way out when I inevitably screwed up. I dig stealth when it's an option, I tend to get frustrated when its forced. It felt really rewarding when I did mange to silently take out everyone in a section of a level.

Could have done without the tank segment and the QTEs but they weren't awful. The final part with 006 was really rough for me especially since you could randomly get one shotted by a grenade launcher at any time. Once I figured out I just had to outlast him until he fled it was a little easier but I died quite a bit.

It's not too frequent that FPS campaigns keep me engaged the whole way through, made me curious of 007 Legends but I heard it wasn't as good.

I've sunken hundreds of hours into Arma 2 and 3, especially with community mods. Sometimes I even play online for the hell of it, even though my style of lone wolfing is discouraged on most servers.

Btw Aliens Colonial Marines still sucks.

Ok, so I just finished another FPS.

Yes, really.

I was looking through my non-GOG installed games, and totally forgot I was working on the original Ghost Recon expansion packs (I found the gold edition earlier this year at Goodwill), I had 2 mission left on Desert Siege, went and finished that. That last mission though. You're not expected to rush to complete many objectives on GR, but here you had to take out the tanks before they crossed a bridge or else it was mission fail.

I still got the Island Thunder expansion pack to take care of, but that's for another time.

Pulsar, how well does ARMA work when hosting and playing? Or is it just not worth it to just play coop against bots?

I play mostly using the editor. I place down a few modules to spawn enemies and objectives etc, and I play with AI teammates. For MP you have two routes: either join a dedicated community that uses voice comms and plans missions ahead, or you can join public servers for co-op play with strangers. Either method should work if you're willing to learn the ropes. PvP in Arma is the weakest aspect, the gunplay isn't that fun compared to dedicated FPS games. Last but not least, you can choose from a handful of survival mods and go DayZ style, but I don't enjoy that mode (Your mileage might vary.)

Hosting games without friends is a no-go, nobody will join your server unless you advertise it and recruit other players. If you're still unsure you can start with Arma 2 (http://store.steampowered.com/agecheck/sub/4639) since it's on sale for dirt cheap, and if you enjoy it you can move on to Arma 3 during the xmas sale. All Arma games have a healthy amount of user-made content, I download my files from armaholic.com (there are other venues too)

The reason I asked is that every Thursday four to a dozen of Ack and I's mutual friends hop online to play games. So if it is played we will have a built in group. We will not be joining a public server, it is mostly just guys goofing around. Atleast half of us have ARMA2 already, I played a good bit of the missions after I realized how much I hate Dayz, but never had luck with the ARMA2 multiplayer.
