The SNES and PSX have always been my favorites to collect for. Those are my biggest libraries next to the PS2.

Yeah I have found that the ps2 and ps1 have such a great diversity of games. You have the solid titles for all the genres, loads of hidden gems and some of the most absurd and obtuse games ever made.

Lots to collect and very inexpensive in comparison to other systems like the saturn. (Which still is my favorite system overall.)

Absolutely. I love the absurd. My meat and potatoes are FMV games, which are absurd in spades.

I think the "follow the hostile target" missions are more frustrating than the escort missions. It seems you always either are following the slowest enemy ever and can't get too close or are following someone going at a dead sprint and one slip up means you lose him.

What I really hate in the vein of escort missions is when space sims give me "shoot down the torpedoes to defend the capital ship" as a mission objective. It's not adding variety to the gameplay like they must think it is, it's just taking me away from the exciting dogfights that I want to be having because I'm stuck boredly shooting down projectiles that move in a straight line.

So Strike Suit Zero is an interesting case of that. The engagements in that game are mostly you supporting your own capital ships, and indeed the dogfights are the least emphasized part of the game (some of that is due to how you can obliterate fighters in strike mode). So it has a lot of needing to destroy torpedoes to keep your friendly ships safe, but for the most part those are incidental objectives. The actual main objective is to take out the corvettes launching them, and the amount of torpedoes you have to down is directly related to your efficiency in taking down the corvettes. Similarly when it's destroyer on destroyer you need to pull the teeth of the enemy destroyer to give your own ship the leg up in the damage race.

Yeah there are few absurd game titles on consoles, but on PC... oh man there is absurdity to the extreme. I mean, Mount your Friends, Roundabout, Icarus Proudbottom Teaches Typing!

Anyone feel they should lower the price of PS1 classics on PSN? $9.99 seems a bit high to me for some of the RPGs that are priced at that.
