From the little I played it is fun. I know other games that feel a little clumsy that I enjoy too, so it's not necessarily a game breaker.

If you're just getting into genesis gaming then I highly recommend getting Flashback, Contra Hard Corps, and Samurai Shodown. Contra is the only one that'll run you up any money, the other two are pretty cheap

Flashback is a cinematic platformer much like another world.
Contra hard corps has everything that made contra 3 good but with multiple characters and branching paths.
Samurai Shodown is a fun fighter. I've had more fun with SS than I've had with sf2 or mortal kombat.

I got this from My Retro Game Box a few months back and I really don't like it.

If I find them really cheap, sure but a games like contra is at least 20.00 and samurai I think is now like a ten dollar mark. Don't want dip money like that into games when I'm saving for an everdrive.
The games I mentioned mostly comes in bundles with the system and or a couple bucks each.

I think samurai is about 5 or 6 but I see your point. Ea sports games are the only thing that stays in that under five range, that I can think of

Don't get me wrong if I see any decent games for cheap hell yeah I'll pick them up like anyone else here. But like a good friend once told me don't go after the games, don't chase the games or systems let the games/systems find you.

I should do that. Instead I chase and pay more for everything than I should. I have little patience though

May take a lot longer than saying going on eBay or something like that but it pays off.

mas wrote: A buddy mentioned I should just trade in tomba 2 and another gem and I can get the Genesis easy like that. I'm thinking about it since I never play it. I have played it and I'm not that much of a fan. Maybe I'll play it tonight on my crt and see how it plays and looks compared to a lcd
I think that would be the responsible thing to do there if you don't have some big love affair with it on a clear mind (Tomba) anymore. If you could live without it, do without it. That's where I've taken myself and have slimmed the game wall considerably despite snapping up quite a few Genesis games and I still am too.

Anyway -- I get you about Alisia Dragoon, that does make sense, but I went into it seeing it as a game designed around unavoidable damage which usually is game ruining to me, but the amount of health it just kept spitting out levels it out if you're not dumb and try and rush it so I enjoyed it -- like old Gauntlet, many food items, many ways to die if you run in.

My pattern in all this is a moderate chase with very measured behaviors. I have terms of business I set to my own self. I look at the active ebay history, I don't care what was 4-6mo ago on that game price charting site, as that's over and done. If a game say like Contra loose gets $40 usually, I won't pay more than 20-25% off it or more depending how much I really want it. I NEVER set up ebay (or elsewhere) auto sniffers. I must earn it, just like driving and footing it at a flea market or resale shops in the county. The game will either digitally (ebay, etc) or physically come to me and at a price I'll pay, which isn't the going rate. Especially if it's local I refuse to pay narrower than 20% because of ebay as their fees/cuts along with the FVF and paypals %+flat cut. I factor it all out and what I run into, I grab if it works out and I don't forget about it. If I do, oh well, but if I get lucky and find something as it pops up cheap or can make a low enough offer and have it work I'm on it. Not arrived yet but I snapped up together Truxton and Wings of Wor on an OBO as the price was ebay going rate, offered $10 off on each and got it saving 25% and 33% respectively.

Another reason I do this -- if I end up with a blind buy having not really hit it on an emulator or before by some means and not liking it, I can then sell it back online and break even so it's no loss and I get to in effect 'rent' the game so it's a win-win.

Now I have a question -- TENGEN and their crusty PCBs... what's the deal? PitFighter Sega assembled so I know it's cool, but stuff like Gauntlet IV and Dragon's Fury and Revenge i want, but I'm paranoid they'd be dead or die on me sooner than later with age. I know you can pop and swap the chips, but I don't have solder removing equipment and supplies, plus I don't think I could do new solder with the stuff I do have without bridging a connection with too much solder and/or a shaky hand. What do you do and what's the odds of getting a crap board?
