Yet when I hear "120 people shot in France," I don't have to wonder if it was Christians or Jews that did it before I read the news story. This is the nature of Islam specifically. Religions are not all created equal.

It certainly applies if we're talking about a broader history of all atrocities committed in the name of religion. But we're talking about an act of terrorism committed by people acting on a literal translation of their holy texts ... that happened yesterday. To make it into a broader discussion regarding the nature of religion itself seems to me to be a discussion of false equivalence.

Perhaps some people here could benefit from reading to get some sort of historical context. Saying you hate islam or religion is like blowing into the sun: Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism and Hinduism will remain long after what is now known as the West will have transformed into any new, perhaps even disparate, anthropological and cultural entities.

I do need to apologize if my statements are coming off as anti-muslim as that is not my intent. Marurun is right that the problem is an issue of religious zealotry and literal interpretation of centuries old text. That is the true example of backwards thought processes.

Sometimes speaking out in anger leads to exaggerated statements. Apologies once again as my intent was not to offend.

I think he was inferring genocide. But even if you exterminate +1 billion people, the idea will live on. Nazism is only a few decades old and it's still alive and kicking even if it's on the fringe currently. The only ideology I don't see coming back is Bolshevism, it was an aberration in history and got corrected accordingly.

Of course sympathies are selective, and everyone does it. Nobody gives a hoot about the Rohingya, or the Lebanese, or the Rwandans (France was there witnessing the genocide, just as Holland was in Srebrenica) etc etc.
