Looking at getting a DS or a PSP.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I have a Nintendo DS w/ a M3 Flash Cart, and I personally can't wait to get a PSP. I haven't touched my DS is a long while, and when I do, it's only to play the Neo Geo emulator.

The main reason I want a PSP is for the fighting games (KOF Collection, Darkstalkers Chronicles) and strategy RPGs (Disgaea, Riviera, Yggdra Union, SRW and too many others to name). Plus, I can put PSX games on it.

DS is a great handheld too. There's just not enough fighting games or strategy games on it to really appeal to me. They do have Jump Super/Ultimate Stars and Advance Wars though, and that's probably the only reason I'll keep it around.

Gamerforlife wrote: Also, the PSP's "weak" software library is another one of those ridiculous gaming myths that gets passed around as fact by people who don't know any better. It's a smaller library than the DS, but there are a number of quality titles available and I find myself playing more stuff on the PSP than the DS because there is more stuff catering to older gamers on the PSP.

..So you bring up a gaming "myth" about the PSP, and then start talking about older gamers being catered to on the PSP?

You make me giggle.

Utter ridiculousness.
I dare you to name 10 games on the PSP that are exclusive that are must plays.

The DS caters to everyone. And it's got a 10x better library.

Contra 4? Grand Theft Auto Chinatown? Castlevania? Final Fantasy Tactics?

You are one of those people who only care about graphics. Unfortunate.

Heh, it's not a console war (handheld war?) until someone calls somebody else a graphics whore.

I vote PSP for reasons sighted and I'd add go for a slim cause it can be hooked up to a TV via component cables if you need/want to.
plus it interacts w/ a PS3 so well.

I'd add that I don't see my PSP as just a game device. it plays movies really nicely too. has camera and GPS accessories.

More impressive list than I expected....

Though I do have a few problems with some of them.

Loco, Lumines, Patapon are all incredible but their sequels are pretty much the same game...

WTF is almost a rip off of Wario Ware

Haven't heard of some of them.

Most of the PSP games just feel like ports to me. I do own one and I'm not flaming.

I personally find God of War games incredibly dull. See also ratchet and anything star wars

But to each his own.

Well, it's all relative and matter of opinion..but there are certainly a lot of titles that people do love on psp and many of them are exclusives...same for ds. No need to be loyal to one or the other.

Keep in mind that he also forgot to mention the Metal Gear Solid: Portible Ops games, as well as Wipeout and superior ports of classic GBA games.
