That one time where the bonus stuff was better than the game

Well, it looks like I spent $60+ bucks on a Wii game!



I just bought Rodea the sky soldier just to play the wii edition.

I'm in no rush to buy a Wii U yet. I still dont see myself having one any time soon.

I even flipped the cover to make it match the rest of my Wii collection.

But anyways, topic time!

Whether the game was good or bad, did you get more enjoyment out of the bonuses than the game itself? Maybe you bought the special edition and dont have the system yet? Did you buy the game just to get at the free sountrack? Or maybe the statue in the collectors edition?

Is the main game collecting dust while you think you got more value from the freebies?

Oh yeah there is one title that stands out to me like a sore thumb in this department and that is, Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings for the Wii. The game itself is incredibly mediocre, but one of the pieces of bonus content stands out as the sole reason to buy it. I am talking about the unlockable version of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. You get the classic Lucas Arts adventure game, with motion controls. I never understood why the wii didn't get more titles like this, where you can use the pointer as a mouse. It just seems to fit so perfectly with the genre.

I bought the Wii version of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands solely because it has the very original Prince of Persia (well, the 1992 Mac version) as an unlockable. It can be opened after playing for five minutes or so. I haven't played the main game any further than that, but the original game gets some lovin'.

I try to get special editions of games whenever possible, but usually for games I want. Though there have been times that the soundtrack extra is the win over to buy a game I was undecided on.

No, it's the American release. You can pick it up on Amazon, but only the first print copies come with the bonus Wii game.

I bought all the Sakura Taisen box sets on Dreamcast. I've never attempted to play any of the games because of the language barrier. I bought them for the pink VMU and rumble pack for my wife's controller. And for the music box. Seriously, a Sega music box. How classy is that?

While I actually quite liked the game, having the original 3 Splatterhouse games packed into the 2010 (I think that's the right year) Splatterhouse was wonderful.

I know people bought those gamecube turtles battle nexus titles but only so they could unlock the classic arcade games hidden within and not for the mediocre at best primary titles. I believe they had turtles in time and the arcade game on them.

I actually ended up pretty well disliking the crappy rigged AI on SF4 when it first came out, ended up buying the box set as I got a slick deal on it, ended up liking the Ryu figure and the rest more than the game (but eventually sold it all.)

Another though I didn't do it the right way 100% because I didn't have the WiiU (code was shared to me) for the game just the 3DS version, but I was able to get the Smash Bros 2 CD audio set and I've barely with the game but I very often use the CD (as MP3s on my phone.)

The truth of it is I rarely ever buy the box sets of stuff as it's just more junk for the shelf at an added cost, so I rarely get the perks. Two things I wish I did get in the day were those insane packages Call of Duty did with the remote control car one year and night vision goggles another as those are cool. I'd definitely use those more than that sorry game.

The Aliens: Colonial Marines special edition which sat at $15 for a long time wasn't a bad pick up the plastic statue with the loader fighting the alien looks pretty nice for that price. Plus the game while pretty bad wasn't horrible.

Alien Hominid never worked for me, but the PDA game that is tucked away on the options has drawn me back so many times.
