Random Gaming Thoughts
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Since the German pronunciation of the letter "Z" is tzet, I'm inclined to agree that Zee was modified to more closely fit the pattern of the earlier letters of the alphabet.

Don't forget zebra. USA says "zee-brah", but UK says "zebb-rah".
UK also calls a hurricane "hurrah-kin", or at least Richard Hammond does.

While we're on this line of thought, what's the deal with "Alu-mini-um"?
Also:
Iroc Zed (Actually taken from a "Top Gear goes to America" episode. I was like, "What the hell is an Iroc Zed?! ... Ooohhhhh")

The hurricane thing is a regional accent. Not all Brits say it that way.Exhuminator wrote:Don't forget zebra. USA says "zee-brah", but UK says "zebb-rah".

We all say Zebra instead of Zeebra though.
I say both A to Zed and Mega Man Zed Ex. I say Dragon Ball Zee though, because that's how it's said in the show.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Things that sound strange:

Pro-grum seems like a regional thing too. Most people say 'pro-gram'Exhuminator wrote:Vitamin (vitt-uh-min)mjmjr25 wrote:Schedule (shed-u-ull)

The two American pronunciations that rile me up most are pronouncing Route to rhyme with out and pronouncing herb without the h.

Fun fact; I was reading through an old Nintendo power from the NES era and they were doing a special on cool Japanese games we would never get. One was a DBZ game that they kept referring to as "Dragon Ballz".prfsnl_gmr wrote:Dragon Ball Zed
