Sadly, I'm not surprised at all.
Why does anyone even care about who gets the blame for the holocaust anymore? The only people still alive who had anything to do with it are the survivors, and low-level guards. None of the people at the policy level are still around.

Seriously, the only reason to bring up the holocaust like this anymore is to score political points one way or the other. Exactly as it's being used in this situation.

BoringSupreez that is true. But the Nazi movement is still alive in spirit and in numbers (small as those might be), and due to the migrant crisis in Europe seems to be getting some traction. We now have extreme wahabism taking what seems to be firm roots in the Levant, who knows if Nazism or any form of fascism wouldn't follow suit in Europe in the future? The tyranny of the majority can be an ugly thing if invoked.

Brazil: How could so much go so wrong?
I remember hearing as a kid that Brazil was one of the nations of the future, that it would be a first-world nation alongside North America and Western Europe someday soon. Now, I mostly hear about how it's all going downhill over there. What caused this, I wonder?

All the articles about Iceland and its banking systems seem to be written exclusively from an outsider viewpoint, ignoring that the political system of Iceland is mirred in corruption.

The truth is that Iceland has always be run by oligarchs which use their political power to protect their monopolies. Energy generation, fishing and yes, banking, are all examples of this. The goverment taking over the banking system is not so much about a perceived injustice as it is about oligarchs fighting each other and protecting their own interests.

I don't think Brazil's future is much more grim than it was before the Petrobras scandal, it's just a country with very deep-seated, systematic corruption that ocasionally becomes tangled in public affairs because of its protectionists policies.

Erik_Twice, I'm interested in learning more about this oligarchy in Iceland if you got credible links.

Sadly, I don't have any links, it's just something I learned about over the years. I tried to use Google to find some links about it but all I get are articles like the one you posted :(

Indonesia plans crocodile-guarded prison island for drug convicts

"You can't bribe crocodiles. You can't convince them to let inmates escape."

 What this plan needs is some sharks with laser beams.

They're thinking out of the box, that's for sure. If none of the Indonesian guards get eaten, maybe Florida should implement "Alligator Moats" around all their prisons

There have been several shootings in Paris on several districs at once and several bombings at the same time. At least 60 dead, reports of over 100 people being kept hostage in a discothéque.

Damn :(
