CGR is leaving Youtube

Classic Game Room is back on Youtube as of today. Not exactly sure how or why but they are back with N64 week.

Meh, I stopped watching when he left Youtube, and I find I don't miss it.

An opinion shared by more than just a few.
His average viewership no's per vid have really dropped off since his return.
Which would explain his current decision to scale everything back to "just a hobby" status.

I'm still a fan but don't keep up with him as much as a few others. I think the issue is that I didn't really see any kind of focus or coherence. Lots of random, very short videos. It's cool he apparently likes manga and started covering other misc things, but how about doing a bigger video covering several of them at once? It's a bit of a mess going through his videos/playlists trying to find things too. The daily video thing was just too much?

I understand where he's coming from with that statement out of personal experience.


Anyway I'm sure it burns his ass to see react videos, let's plays, and schlock like poodoopie getting far more views than his actually somewhat professionally produced segments. I can't blame him for moving on to something else. In the video he says he's going to produce a web comic called "Disco 8-Track" that will satire the modern internet and social media. I guess not entirely unlike the way Dilbert satires the modern working office environment. He also recently did this:

I noticed in this most recent video, he was not wearing the wedding ring he always wears in every other video I can remember seeing.

I hate to hear that he's scaling back but I understand it.

I have never met Mark but he seems like a nice guy and I hope things work out for him.

He never took himself or the hobby too seriously in his videos and I always enjoyed the light lampooning that he gave our collective childhoods when he reviewed a game or a console. For all the rage, fake or otherwise, and vitriol out the in the retro-gaming world, Mark always came at things with a good sense of humor and his tongue planted firmly in cheek. I appreciate that.

Will he be leaving the videos up that have already been posted? Will the CGR website keep going?

A shame. I actually quite like Mark - not all the time, but his laid back feel is refreshing compared to tubers that are either overtly negative or just employ random = lol "humor".

I enjoy Mark and Classic Game Room, but yeah it's not something I can watch with great regularity. At some point in time it just becomes droning and Truxton jokes. Which, sometimes, I am in the mood for.

The videos I like the most are when he talks about games he really likes. Those are always good times. If taking a step back and working on other projects helps make more of the reviews like that, that'd be great, I'm in.

As is stands, I probably won't notice the difference, I tend to be skipping recent CGR uploads unless I'm in the mood. For a non-hyper-net person such as my self, less frequent content of higher caliber would make me enjoy the show more, rather than forget about it.

I mean, I still wish stuff like 2-Bits and Awesome Video Games would come back, so I don't really forget stuff I like.

Wait so how did he get it fixed? I like to watch his vids every now and then and only recently saw the first part of this topic...definitely nice to watch every now and then...
