So this was originally an arcade/PS2 game, right? And Futari is the sequel? They look so similar.

Correct. There was also a port of Mushihimesama to the 360 (which was years after Futari was released on the 360 and was region locked).

Mushihimesama is the first game and is one player only. Futari is the second and lets two people play.

So do the various DoDonPachi games (Dai-Ou-Jou, DFK, etc.) Cave seemed to have a thing to make sequels that look interchangeable.

I'd say that DoDonPachi and Resurrection are worlds apart. And I mean, Deathsmiles and IIx are sooo different. But Mushi and Futari *look* very similar, yes.

I'll probably end up buying every Cave game on Steam that I don't already have on 360.

I will buy every CAVE game on Steam no matter what. I really want to support this initiative.

Already bought Mushi. I mean, the game + 1.5 + soundtrack for $18 is unreal.

I always read Futari as futanari, and that throws me for a second.

I'm honestly beginning to feel that I prefer games that are linear, have enclosed levels, or obvious things to do. A Metroidvania is limited enough that I can handle it, and DOOM style levels are muy bueno. But open world games with little direction, or open world games that have absolutely nothing to do but have huge maps irk me.

Wow, that would be a very different game indeed.

Probably fewer bugs.

Maybe.

They sure wouldn't be riding into battle on giant beetles.

I do the same thing. Didn't want to be the first one to admit it though.
