Second vote for the TAU. I have two 34 inchers. I absolutely love them. Sometimes text is not as sharp as it is on a LCD but you cannot beat the black levels of a CRT.

I have a crt HDTV, but its a POS. I got it on clearance at Wal-Mart for 150 and its a 27" RCA. While it does look alot better than SDTV's, it still looks like shit when compared to a nice LCD. It was still a nice upgrade from my previous tv though, and the price was right.

in Europe it is nigh on impossible to get a CRT based HDTV - at one stage i wanted a JVC one - but it was only on sale in US :(

I've got a Samsung 27" HDTV (1080i) that I gave up on trying to use it for SD stuff. I op'd for a dual solution...two CRTs: SD and HD. I have heard of some luck with the XRGB2 from videophiles that demand scanlines and lag free filters.

I have a 27" Samsung SlimFit HD CRT. Perfect for retro -- just sad it doesn't have VGA input for the Dreamcast...
