Man I love Pokemon Yellow but dang they sure have made some improvements since then now that I'm replaying it for completion(aka getting to the league finally...still working on FFA but I'm all ffa'd out for a bit and still need to get my barings again since I just wandered aimlessly with chocobot in the ocean after I finally got out of that ice dungeon). The game just feels so slow without running shoes and the fact that I'm constantly darting back to pokemon centers and such to get health back up and purchase a few more potions. I still haven't made it past Mt Moon and I think I'm hitting hour 6 already(probably because of thoughtless looking at the computer and playing it at the same time). Heck money is even limited in this game too it seems(which is really putting a bind to keep pokemon from fainting...).
Plus made the stupid mistake of doing this team:
Magikarp
Pikachu
Spearow
Pidgey
Sandshrew
Mankey
(some of these though once they hit their evolved forms they're going straight in the computer to make room for some newer ones since I want to have room for the starters when I get that far)

Re: RPG Progress Report
Using 6 pokemon that early is why the game feels so slow imo. I'd never have more than 2 or 3 at that point in the game.darsparx wrote:Man I love Pokemon Yellow but dang they sure have made some improvements since then now that I'm replaying it for completion(aka getting to the league finally...still working on FFA but I'm all ffa'd out for a bit and still need to get my barings again since I just wandered aimlessly with chocobot in the ocean after I finally got out of that ice dungeon). Pokémon always seemed perfectly pitched to me to have 2 pokemon by gym 1, 3 by gym 2, 4 by gym 3 etc. Once you have a full team of 6 (around gym 5 or 6) you can start considering swapping some out for each gym after.

Re: RPG Progress Report
right so the Naga Queens suck. Every time I get one of them close to death the other casts AllHeal and they each get +4,000 HP. I can't seem to kill one fast enough. :\

Shadow Hearts
This game was a bit of a white whale for me from about five years ago. I had reached the final boss and couldn't beat it. Well here we are years later, and this time I think I'm on track to actually beat this. Considering last night I did all three of the bonus dungeons and beat all three of the optional super bosses, I think I'll be able to handle the actual final boss now. I even killed Atman the vile mask (pictured above) to achieve the good ending (and didn't forget to read Alice's tombstone).
Shadow Hearts is such a gem of a strange JRPG. But you don't have to take my word for it:
"In the midst of today's struggling JRPGs, it took the replaying of a classic to remind me of something many have forgotten. Ten years after its release, Shadow Hearts proved that my love of the JRPG was not just a stage in my video game life that had given away as adolescence does to adulthood. My enjoyment of this beloved and frustrating genre was not to be found only in the past, although today's JRPGs often lack essential elements somehow forgotten in new trends and methods. Shadow Hearts may be unpolished and critically mediocred into obscurity, but this delight offers more entertainment and joy than even the most acknowledged and flashy JRPGs of today." -RPGFan retrospective review from 2011.

They aren't kidding. That nether region protrusion does commit hideous acts. (If you consider being rapidly bitch slapped in the face by a demon penis hideous.)
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

They use the same file format for saves (VMS) because the anniversary version was built directly off the dreamcast version's code.

Re: RPG Progress Report
there's numerous ways to backup a VMU save. I did it via the Dreamcast web browser. Upload it to one of several sites meant for this reason. Anyway, you take the save and throw it in the Save folder of the HD version and just change the name of it to match the way it's formatted on PC. And boom. Save loads.
