Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?

In fact the only time I remember being let down by Morrowind's spellcrafting/enchanting was when I tried to make throwing stars with the Open door spell on them. Didn't work. Just hit the door and bounced off.

That is a truly awesome idea, and I'm so disappointed it didn't work out. That would be great for a sneaky character.

Personally, I think that every Elder Scrolls game has been better than the one that came before it.

Now how is that for an unpopular opinion?

I certainly agree that Morrowind was a better and more interesting setting for a game, but I do think that Oblivion was a better game overall. And I think Skyrim was a better game than Oblivion.

But the settings were a bit generic. Here's hoping the rumors are true and that TES IV is really entitled "Redguard" and will take place in Hammerfell....

Well, I at least agree with you that Oblivion > Morrowind. But I would also say that Oblivion > Skyrim. Morrowind is too clunky, obtuse, and ugly, while Skyrim is like Elder Scrolls with training wheels.

When you say training wheels are you saying that the game was not difficult enough? Personally, I didn't really notice much difference between the default difficulty settings of Oblivion and Skyrim.

Honestly, though the leveling system was one of the big improvements I thought Skyrim made over Oblivion. In Oblivion you had to be really careful what you did or you would gimp yourself since the enemies leveled with you (which would make the game more difficult). You had to play a kind of tedious meta game with your skill advancements while you were playing the actual game. Either that or do some modding.

My personal solution was just to not level much past level 3-5 or so. I would level up to there and just never sleep again. I liked the way the equipment looked that spawned at that level and it obviously didn't effect the story in any way.

Skyrim doesn't have this problem nearly as much. It's much harder to gimp yourself and you don't have to meta game all the time. In that way, the game is much easier than Oblivion for sure. But personally, I am almost always in favor of removing tedium in games.

I'm so bored of city sandbox games that I can't even get into Arkham City, despite my love for most things Batman and the original Arkham Asylum. Origins and Knight look more and less the same in design. I guess I'll just stop while I'm at it. Can't do these games anymore.

I can certainly understand open-world fatigue.

But if you ever decide to come back to the Batman games, City is probably the best one. Knight was pretty disappointing.

Yeah, 2 hours in and I absolutely love the story bits, graphics and style totally rock too. But every 10 minutes going to the next mission point or fighting another group of random thugs and I'm instantly bored, lol.

I guess my unpopular is that I think playing a lot of the 8 bit and 16 bit games on a emulator is a overall better experience than on the original hardware. Cleaner graphics, filters, widescreen, ROM hacks, hardware that isn't worn out and no battery saves or passwords. There's a lot to like about emulators. I know most of the cartridge collectors think otherwise.
