What's the best P2P sellling site?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

What's the best P2P sellling site?

Post by the7k »

I know the question is highly subjective, but I'm looking to sell factory-sealed copies of Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue for PS3, and I don't know exactly which service to use. eBay is the popular choice, but I've heard a lot of talk about them shafting people with Final Value Fees and other such stuff. I use Amazon.com a lot myself, but without the "Ending In ..." aspect of it, I'd imagine my items'll sit in the dust for months waiting for someone to pick it up. I'm sure Half.com is probably a combination of the worst of both Amazon and eBay.

So, anyway, I'd like to know what everybody's experience with selling on these sites (or any others) are, so that I can gauge who I should use and who I should avoid.

I think amazon is great as long as you set your price right so that it will actually sell. ebay costs too much in fees in my opinion. Craigslist is great local quick sales but you will get lowballed sometimes on things you are selling. But for me my best new thing is here on racketboy. Its not the biggest community in the world to be reaching out to but at least you know we are all gamers. We are interested in game things you may be selling and offer pretty fair money for things. Just use paypal and you will be fine sending and receiving money.

Actually, after looking at http://www.rolbe.com, it seems like I'd make slightly more profit with eBay, assuming the item sells for what I want it to sell for. While eBay charges for all sorts of fees, Amazon charges a 15% commission for items and that is slightly higher than all the eBay charges put together, at least for the items I'm trying to sell right now.

Of course, I may as well try here, but Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue didn't seem like the kind of games that would interest most of the people here.

I'll also look into craigslist. Who knows, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Yeah, Amazon, Half.com, and Ebay all charge 15% for DVDs and games. Amazon and Half.com do not have paypal fees attached to them, which is nice I guess, but in addition to the 15% there is transaction fee for both of those that is a set rate I think. Also Amazon and Half only give you a shipping reimbursement, so you are sometimes almost forced to send it media mail, which I hate doing, but I'm not going to go out of pocket for it. Like I just sold a copy of Mega Man 8 for Saturn on half.com, but it weighs 1 pound and 3 ounces, thats gonna cost me $4.55 to send priority, because its over 13 ounces. Media Mail is $2.58 and my shipping reimbursement is $2.89...sucks for the buyer. Amazon and Half don't have listing fees, but as mentioned there are other things.

I almost always use craigslist for systems, especially Gamecubes and the stuff from last generation. They only sell for like $20-$25, so I find it harder and more expensive to sell on eBay if someone is going to have to pay me $10 for shipping, when they could get it locally.

For those games, I'd try Craigslist and like emphasize blowout prices. Leave both a phone number and email as contact options. Take pics.

There is also www.chasethechuckwagon.com but the buyers are too informed and always try to make lowball offers or aren't trying to buy stuff at market prices.
