I don't know that this is an answer though. We tried doing the "between Alone and Fatal" thing, and came out with a tie. You casting that same vote again... we'll just end up with another tie won't we?

Awesome! I know some might beg to differ, but I think all of these games are historically significant, worthy discussion, and most of all fun to play!

I'm still very much in favor of Alone in the Dark, being that the more we've discussed it in this thread the more curious I've become. I'll probably wind up playing this one at some point whether it becomes a TR title or not. Fatal Frame would be fun as well though, and I haven't fired up my PS2 from a while so it could use some love. Ghosts N Goblins? Well really how can you argue with a classic? I'd love to lament the unrelenting difficulty of this game with a bunch of other miserable SOBs. My problem isn't that I'm strongly against any of these games but rather that they would all be solid choices. Final answer for this one: Alone in the Dark (since I'm going to play anyway, and it's more fun to play & discuss).

World Heroes seems to have a fair bit of momentum and it's one well established fighting franchise that I've had very little experience with. I think I rented it for SNES as a kid (don't remember which title) and remember feeling at the time that the controls were (too?) stiff. It would be nice to revisit this one to see if my memories of the game still hold water. Final Answer: World Heroes

I'm in favor of NHL '94 for this one. Yes, the NHL is a North American based sports franchise, but regardless of that this game is remembered as a revolutionary Hockey video game (in much the same way that Super Tecmo Bowl was for American Football games ). To be honest I think it's superfluous whether you know the names of the teams or not, as I'm guessing that all but the most diehard sports statisticians among us (Luke?) would remember the intimate details of the '93-'94 NHL season anyway. It wouldn't be that much different than playing a hockey game with made up teams and players (i.e. Ice Hockey, Blades of Steel, etc.) except that this one is likely better than most of them.

I would prefer Third Strike for the fighter, but am def ok w/World Heroes.

Horror game - I am not a huge fan of the genre, so my vote shouldn't hold as much stock as others who do enjoy it - that said, i'd go Ghosts n Goblins of the 3 in the discussion.

Other - Kirby Dream Course / Puyo Puyo sound great to me.

Oh man I totally forgot that Kirby's Dream Course was in running! In that case I'd like to retract my vote for NHL '94 in favor of Kirby.

If our decision is that Fatal Frame and Alone in the Dark have reached a stalemate and are thus out of the running, I would also shift my vote to Ghosts N Goblins (a game whose difficulty alone should be enough to strike horror into the hearts of its victims). If AitD is still in contention though, I'm sticking by with my original vote.

I still think the fighting game thing was bollocks. The options were Harvest Moon or a fighting game. What if you wanted a fighting game and harvest moon? What if you didn't want harvest moon, but you also didn't want a fighting game.

I'm done with nominations and will play whatever gets chosen, but yeah, lets find a different method for picking games next year.

You can have either apples or oranges, and kiwi is not an option.

Dont get me wrong mind, I'd prefer this was decided so we can think about buying the games ahead of time, I just think we should definitely think about how we do this next year to avoid the need for these types of head-to-head polls which seem flawed imo.

These aren't votes or whatever just recommendations for what has been suggested.

If Guilty Gear is picked X2 and its variations would be the way to go.

Virtua Fighter 2 is the safest bet in this series, VF1 is a bit archaic and VF5 a bit too new.

I think a sports game should be picked in the open slot. Haven't had one since World Series Baseball and stuff like Tecmo Bowl, Blades of Steel and Virtua Tennis have appeal beyond being defined as just sports games.

Not sure why puzzle games are being put forward TBH, I thought Solomon's Key had that covered.
