All the more reason why it boggles my mind. Some people want to hate just to hate.BoringSupreez wrote:He survived, didn't he? Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!

Leaving work yesterday the lady in front of me hit a pedestrian, who rolled ontop of her SUV, then when she slammed the breaks, he rolled back off onto the ground. Luckily there was an offduty EMT and a nurse there. I directed traffic for a bit until the police came and said I could go. Our office park issued a statement this morning saying he fell into a coma last night, vitals are not looking good. He is a John Doe - probably someone from a nearby neighborhood out for a walk.

So I house sat today for my Mom while two of the worst "techs" I've ever activated her cable. Took 2 guys 3 and 1/2 hours and they didn't even have to run any new lines and she was using the same equipment from her apartment
. So basically it took them 1 hour to get it turned on at the pole, 2 hours to figure out the junction box which for once the builders actually labeled properly + install 1 cable box & 2 modems(1 phone/ 1 internet for some dumb ass reason), and another 30 minutes to figure out how to do a speed test which they actually forgot to do initially and had to come back for
. They also completely ignored where we wanted the modems, but talking to them was like a brick wall so I just waited till they left popped open the junction box and swapped the coaxial cables to the room I wanted it which took all of 3 minutes
. Just glad that they didn't charge us for installation even though we were told there was to be a $78 installation fee they didn't seem to know anything about it when I brought it up.
Only thing I will have to watch out for is it looks like they changed her package since suddenly she has all the standard channels as opposed to the 17 or so she had with her basic package.

Some people genuinely mean it that way. I think I'm perceptive enough to pick out those who do, and I tend to be a lot more appreciative in those cases. Those who do feel that way usually also care enough to do other things for you, like check in on you periodically and ask how your day is going and whatnot, which, if you do care enough for someone, you should absolutely be doing.Ack wrote:Conversely, you could view it as, "I care enough to pray for you," which for some folks would be an honor.

The main reason for this is that people are very polarized and are more than happy to jump to conclusions by associating an opinion on a single topic to a mainstream ideology or a political party.
And it's very hard to get out of the rut because once people set the sights on you no amount of talking will convince them, because they have already commited to a position. Being very radicalized only makes matters worse as it makes it very difficult to back down, specially if one uses insults or personal attacks. And everyone is radicalized. I had several friends which were very nice and laid back a few years ago and now have this extremely hardline opinions and support independence, joke about killing all men or are knee-deep into Gamergate.
It even applies to the silliest stuff. I've been accused of hating on disabled people for liking permadeath in Fire Emblem. I've been accused of being a fascist for thinking we are better off now than we were with Franco. I've been accused of being a homophobe for saying "not all gay people are effeminate" in class. It's really toxic and it sucks.
Even in this forum, in which the overwhelming majority is thoughtful, extremely nice and full of people who give the benefit of the doubt I'm sure a good chunk think I'm some kind of weird extremist.
Life sucks.
