There has been back and forth discussion about whether we should play a representative of JRPGs, WRPGs, or both. This poll is enabled to allow people to vote on the topic
These are the options:
Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow/Fire Red/Leaf Green: This represents a vote only for the entire original Pokemon line, to be compared and contrasted. The space KOTOR currently holds will be opened up for input and suggestions from the community.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: This represents a vote for only KOTOR to appear on the Together Retro 2016 list. The space Pokemon currently holds will be opened up for input and suggestions from the community.
Both: This is a vote for both Pokemon and KOTOR to appear on the Together Retro 2016 list.
Neither: This is a vote to remove Pokemon and KOTOR from consideration for Together Retro 2016 and to accept input and suggestions from the community on what games to play instead.
This poll will be open for 7 days, from October 14, 2015, to October 21, 2015.
Polls are now closed. Our winning choice is KOTOR and an open month.

Re: Together Retro 2016: The RPG Question
I would rather have star wars over pokemon, and give that pokemon space to a fighting game like virtua fighter.

Re: Together Retro 2016: The RPG Question
So tough!
The "hey I just want to have fun" gamer in me says KOTOR. I've only played it once, and I've never done an Evil play through. As a console gamer, I was a late bloomer to PC gaming, and IIRC KOTOR was the first PC game I ever played to completion. So in the interest of full disclosure, I'm definitely seeing that one through the glowing sepia tint of my nostalgia goggles.
The erudite "in order to appreciate the medium you must study the history" gamer in me says it has to be Pokemon. I've never played a single Pokemon title for more than a few minutes, and it's indisputable that this series became a full on cultural phenomenon.
I must meditate carefully on this choice ...

Went with both because I liked that idea.

Re: Together Retro 2016: The RPG Question
I went with both as well. The more I thought about it, the more I feel like that despite both of these games falling under the generic banner of "RPG" they are very different games in almost every way. One is a short-ish(?) 8 bit handheld game with strong Japanese aesthetic and influence, while the other is a more modern WRPG, based on what is likely the most "Western" of all licensed properties (heh ... Space Western). IMO these two games can happily reside in the same year being that they have very little overlap in style, gameplay, story, aesthetic, etc.
Re: Together Retro 2016: The RPG Question
Neither. I never liked these two in the original discussion. I think they should be sacrificed to make way for some new suggestions. Of course both would make great together RPG games.

Re: Together Retro 2016: The RPG Question
I will try to prevent Pokemon from ever being TRPG.
Why are these ok for trpg but not together retro?

Re: Together Retro 2016: The RPG Question
Good question. I don't really know. I'm just being selfish I guess. I plan on participating in TR next year, but not necessarily in TRPG, so I am trying to banish all RPGs from TR. It's not my favorite genre. I did vote for Harvest Moon for TR however.

Now I'm gonna have to nominate it next time, just to bug you.

Kidding, kidding.
