Basically there are few big problems that need to be tackled. First off my brother is overworking himself like crazy and has serious trust issues stemming from past relationships and family issues. On the other side she really needs someone to hang out with who my brother won't be suspicious of. Pretty much my brother is working 24/7 since he has a full class load that leaves him with 2-5 hours of homework a night, and he is also essentially single handedly running two engineering societies/frats which have meetings/activities every other day.... So really I just need to help him destress and open up from time to time, and I also need take her out or go over and chill from time to time so she can have someone to talk to.

I'm all for helping family, but the best help you can give is to point out what you see. What you are doing might seem like help, but from the outside it looks like you are carrying their water and enabling.

If you feel you have a role - It might be your "job" to tell him that, "hey, dude, you have a good girl here. She's never done you wrong. Don't let your past ruin your future. She isn't [insert person who wronged him]", This isn't what you're proposing though - you are instead going to babysit her to help her and him with their trust/boredom issues?

I heard about the Playboy thing. Being honest here, I had a subscription last year because I found one of those "sign up here for free magazines" websites that had it on there, and the articles and stories and such actually were phenomenal. I mean certainly the girls were pretty too, but as has been pointed out, Rule 34 exists and anything I could possibly want to see as far as nudity goes is only a few clicks away on the internet. So I'm actually kinda interested to see if this keeps ole Heff's publication running for another decade or two.

Alright thanks guys. I don't intend to become their baby sitter I guess I'm just trying to say I'm going to try to get a little more involved with them and hopefully help them mature a bit. My brother needs an occasional kick in the ass to get him on the right track and I'm usually the one to give it to him.

He is kind of a Mommas boy so usually my mom caves any time there is an issue and my Dad just couldn't give less of a fuck .

Forlorn, what do they mean by "early Italian cinema" versus "modern"? What is the rough time period? Are you allowed to compare subject matter of films, technique, approaches toward international work, or what?

The arbitrary split between "early" and "modern" is pre-1970 and post-1970.

We are comparing one of the "early" films to the "modern films. As per the syllabus:
"...pick a certain theme/topic pertaining to one of the films covered during the first part of the course. They will then draw/argue for a set of comparative and/or contrastive relations with one of the films studied during the second part of the course.The nature of these relations will be historical and thematic as well as by formal and filmic."

We can only use the films given by the professor, no others. Sadly, no Fulci. There's Rosselini, Akkad, Fellini, Antonioni, Pasolini, Moretti, Ozpetek, Garrone, Guadagnino, and Sorrentino. Argento and Leone are in during the "popular genres" portion near the end, but as I just found out, they also can not be used for the paper.
