Watched the Arrow premiere...wow this show has really fallen from grace. They did drop a bombshell in the closing minutes of the show that gives me hope though, but Arrow is no longer the gold standard for comic book shows anymore
The Flash premiere was pretty good.
Been catching up on The Strain...god what a mess that show is
Once Upon a Time is back and I LOVE the story arc they are running with
Fear the Walking Dead had its finale...and good riddance. That show is terrible
I wish Ash vs The Evil Dead was on already. I really want to see that show
So what have you guys been watching lately?

Thanks so much for the recommendation. I usually go by the "Never meet your hero" law, but this seems like a pleasant glimpse into Hitchcock's life, and Hopkins is always a joy.nullPointer wrote: I watched Hitchcock a couple of months back and thought is quite well done. It's not a full on bio-pic as it mainly centers around the period in which Psycho was being produced, but it's great for what it is. Hopkins absolutely kills as the titular Hitchcock and Helen Mirren puts in a bang-up performance as his wife. It's not a thrill-a-minute barn burner by any means, but I thought it was a really nice look into the life of the famously private director. Highly recommended for a nice movie night with the wife.
*One personal exception: Walter Payton. Sweetness indeed.
_______
There are hundreds of episodes of The Simpsons, but there is one that in my eyes is the best episodes in the entire series.
Nope. Not Mr.Plow.
It's actually the ending, not the episode that I find captivating. Instead of the original theme music and cut to credits, we see Homer, alone, on the hood of his car staring at stars.
It is similar to the Fresh Prince "Why don't he want me?" episode where an absent parent shows up, only to leave again, but with no emotional resolution. i love this type of stuff as I am dumbfounded on how writers can get me so emotionally involved with a cartoon character.
The sequence of Homer looking out to the horizon is far from short, the music that accompanies the scene is a delight, and it gives the viewer plenty of time to wonder "What is he thinking?".
And very contrary to his character, that's what Homer does. He sits and thinks, leaving the audience to query what he is thinking of or about.
Probably donuts. <lame joke.
It's incredible direction and writing as most of us have had that experience of being given candy only to have it taken away from us the next second. Some "candy" is more important than other "candy" and for a lot of people when a good chunk of candy is stolen from you, all you can do is sit and think.
When you find someone, or even something you've been looking for your entire life, only to lose it again, it stings. This episode goes a different route and asks "Where do I go from here?".

Turns out that Hulu has The Goldbergs in its entirety, which is currently clocking in at 50 episodes, with the most recent being the third season premiere. So naturally I'm binge watching this to catch up.

Finished up S-5 of The Walking Dead. Another stellar year - every time you think it might get stale or they might repeat a theme...they branch it off and you can see so many more story lines they could go with. So good.
We're watching BlackList S-2 right now...it's good, but hard to follow Walking Dead, so feels a little flat. We just started iZombie as a replacement - it's pretty good so far. Feels very much like Dead Like Me.

You should definitely check out iZombie, the writing and humor is great. It's Dead Like Me with the writing staff of Veronica Mars.noiseredux wrote:Omg I loved Dead Like Me.

New Doctor Who series is pretty good so far. Some interesting concepts knocking about and a bit less camp than usual. Well, not much less, the Doctor has taken to playing the electric guitar for some reason, but still.

Just finished up Breaking Bad, and IMO, that was a near perfect ending. I do wish there was an extra season or so within the story, but its all tied up nicely with a bow, so its probably better that it wasn't.
Not 100% sure yet, but I believe Peaky Blinders might be my next thing to watch.

I think this looks really cool and I like Cillian Murphy. I'd like someone to watch it and tell me what the tone is like though before I dive in. I think my next watch is Fargo, they just put Season 1 up on Hulu.Forlorn Drifter wrote:Not 100% sure yet, but I believe Peaky Blinders might be my next thing to watch.
