While at a gun show I saw a kid who couldn't have been older than sixteen purchase a cheap pistol. He was sweating bullets (ho ho), but he really was sweating profusely, his feet were shaking, and basically looked like the personification of nervous. To say he was paranoid would also be an understatement as the kid's head was like an oscillating fan as he kept looking left and right.marurun wrote:One of the other big problems in the US is that while established sellers have to do background checks, person-to-person sales and many gun show sales are not subject to background checks.
It could have not been more obvious that the kid wasn't old enough to get a side arm, but sure enough he walked out with a 9mm.
I wanted to take action, but zero cops. Thousands of guns, hundreds of people walking around with guns, and I couldn't find a single officer to say "something shady is afoot at counter 83".
Of course I wouldn't use those words...maybe I would, but either way it would have been nice to have a police presence at a gun show. And in the end, the kid wanted a gun and if he didn't get one at the show, he would have found another way to get one.
As usual I don't really have a point other than it is way too late for gun control. It can't happen. The supply is already out there, and the demand continues to be high. And there is surplus, nay, a plethora of guns floating around. Gun control is only a dream.
