I have never played Rampart. I like strategy games. I'd be up for this
if it were to replace Harvest Moon or Pokemans

Rampart is decent and has 1000 ports. Dunno if it needs to replace anything we already have on the tentative noisey list though.......

1. Star Control II (space sim thing?)
2. Pitfall (platformer)
3. R-Type (shmup)
4. Metal Slug (run-n-gun)
5. Pokemon red/blue/yellow (RPG)
6. Oddworld (weird looking adventure thing?)
7. (horror) Alone In The Dark? Fatal Frame?
8. Solomon's Key (puzzle)
9. Call Of Duty/Medal Of Honor (FPS)
10. Knights Of The Old Republic? (RPG)
11. (racing) Micro Machines? Daytona USA?
12. Harvest Moon (farm sim)

PLEASE READ: Update RE: our (still) sticking points...

I went back in the thread and tallied up the +1's I could find for Micro Machines, Daytona, Fatal Frame and Alone In The Dark.

a. As of right now it appears that the majority prefers Daytona USA
3 - 5
Micro Machines - AJ, Tek, Exed
Daytona - Bone, Bogus, Prfsnl, noise, null

b. As of right now it appears that the majority prefers Alone In The Dark
4-5
Fatal Frame - TSTR, Lazer, cffjr, AJ
Alone In The Dark - Exed, noise, null, Tek, strangenova

c. As far as I can see Harvest Moon has been +1'd by cffjr and Tek on top of AJ's nomination. It sort of feels like everyone else has been indifferent. Just me? I'm trying to not be biased. I don't think I've seen anyone (other than me, haha) say they didn't want to play it, but I think the only other comments have been for clarification on ports rather than saying YAY or NAY. So... are you all indifferent or are you just cool with it staying on the calendar?

Is Star Control II way better than the first game? I'm not crazy about choosing sequels unless the predecessor is significantly inferior. Or maybe y'all just really want to play 3DO.

Yes, Star Control II is infinitely better than the original in a lot of ways. Don't worry about the story, as it is really simple and self-explanatory. What is important are the improvements to gameplay, plus multiple ways to play the game. Plus Star Control II can be played for free via the Ur-Quan Masters, which I would dare say is the one you want to play. It freaking rocks!

As for the other things, my vote goes towards Alone in the Dark. Yes the game is very archaic, but is a game that can still be enjoyed, especially by fans of Resident Evil. I will probably play the more modern/worse games in the series, just because.

I will put my vote in for Harvest Moon. It is a game that has a lot of talking points for people, plus a lot of hidden elements and strategies that people can share. I also have the PS1 game and the GBA game, so I am covered in that department.
