I still have no idea what this Harvest Moon stuff is all about. So, is there one specific game that's on PS1, GBA, and PSP or are you talking about multiple games here?noiseredux wrote: c. I'm not sure if we've decided on Harvest Moon (PS1, GBA, PSP) or if we want some other wild card?

AJ said that there are PS1, GBA and PSP games with different titles that are all basically the same game.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I still have no idea what this Harvest Moon stuff is all about. Okay so what we're actually talking about is Harvest Moon: Back to Nature + remakes.

Re: Together Retro 2016 Nomination Thread OMG!
I agree that the ones you said seem to be mostly unanimous are, even if I don't like all of them personally I'm happy with those.noiseredux wrote:1. Star Control II (space sim thing?)
2. Pitfall (platformer)
3. R-Type (shmup)
4. Metal Slug (run-n-gun)
5. Pokemon red/blue/yellow (RPG)
6. Oddworld (weird looking adventure thing?)
7. (horror) Alone In The Dark? Fatal Frame?
8. Solomon's Key (puzzle)
9. Call Of Duty/Medal Of Honor (FPS)
10. Knights Of The Old Republic? (RPG)
11. (racing) Micro Machines? Daytona USA?
12. Harvest Moon (farm sim)
Ok, so it seems to me that Star Control, Pitfall, R-Type, Metal Slug, Oddworld, and Solomon's Key are all pretty much making everyone happy.
I'm pretty sure people are in agreement on Pokemon. And with Null's post, I think we're all on board with COD/MOH for June and KOTOR for Star Wars.
These are the sticking points that I can see right now:
a. Fatal Frame has picked up steam. Personally I'd think Alone In The Dark is the more 'important' horror game. But I also know very little about the Fatal Frame series. I had to look up to see how accessible FF is. Apparently it's PS2/Xbox only. Is this one that people can pick up to play for TR without super deep pockets? If so then we'll have to come to a conclusion on Alone vs. Fatal, but if FF is a prohibitively expensive game then I don't think there's much to discuss.
b. I still can't tell if we've decided on Daytona or Micro Machines. I feel like Daytona has gotten a lot more talk the last few pages?
c. I'm not sure if we've decided on Harvest Moon (PS1, GBA, PSP) or if we want some other wild card?
I don't think Daytona vs Micro Machines is clear cut - they still have similar amounts of support, just at different points in the thread (and by different people).
Fatal Frame seems to go for $15-25 or so on both PS2 or Xbox, which isn't crazy high (Raiden is pricier this year, for example). In the US its on PS3 via PSN too, for a lower price.
Harvest Moon seems reasonably popular? I've not seen as much support for other games in genres not already included as for Harvest Moon.
My picks for the last 3 would be Micro Machines, Fatal Frame and Harvest Moon, but we'll wait and see what happens.
There's always the possibility of another suggestion making a late entry though
Just to clarify:BoneSnapDeez wrote:Okay so what we're actually talking about is Harvest Moon: Back to Nature + remakes.
Harvest Moon: Back to Nature is a PS1 title. It's also available on PSN.
Harvest Moon: Boy and Girl is actually a PORT of Back to Nature for PSP. It has no changes at all. It also includes a previosuly Japan only version of the game where you can play as a girl, but is otherwise basically the same game.
Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town is essentially a portable remake of Back to Nature on GBA, with a few differences. It's not identical, but it's so close it's not worth considering it a seperate game really.
Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town for GBA is basically the same game as FoMT, only you play as a girl instead of a boy.

Interesting, I hadn't considered PC ports.noiseredux wrote:Raiden is $10 and includes 3 sequels on GOG: http://www.gog.com/game/raiden_legacy
But I mean, Fatal Frame is cheap on PSN so its basically the same boat right? Cheap digitally, a bit pricier but still reasonable for a physical copy.

yes, I agree there. I was just pointing out the Raiden for those that didn't realize. I believe I paid like $3 for a GOG copy on sale.alienjesus wrote: But I mean, Fatal Frame is cheap on PSN so its basically the same boat right? EDIT: I'm just gonna toss this out there as we briefly touched on puzzle games but didn't converse much... Dr. Mario ?

I love me some match 3 puzzle games, but I don't love me some Dr. Mario.
Edit: I like our current suggestions more than the puzzle games I can think of right now tbh.

fair enough. I'm just brainstorming atm, mostly because I'm perusing Amiga stuff. Which brings me to Zool. Remember when you were talking about platformers? Zool is on Arcade, Acorn Archimedes, Amiga, Atari ST, Amiga CD32, DOS, Game Boy, Sega Game Gear, Sega Master System, Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, SNES apparently.
EDIT: And while I sort of meh'd Bonk's Adventure, I should elaborate and say I still thought that was a good pick. It's on a lot of platforms and def has historical importance.
