for the future consoles, to lower the price of the unit.

I don't regret the purchase, but really the hardware sucks. the games are still worth it though, imo
I have found the use of the gamepad to be decent in some games, but overall, I dislike it. I agree with your assessment of the software. I liked Super Mario 3D World myself, but it is not better to me than other 3D games in the series. I did find it much better than the 3DS Super Mario 3D Land, however!

Windwaker looks nearly as good (if not more so) in Dolphin, in my opinion, and avoids the added bloom effect.

Gamepad has almost been justified for me just due to off-screen play.

I've used off-screen play WAY more than I had expected (wife+2 kids means limited TV time for me) so appreciate that feature... but otherwise find that very few games make good use of two screens. But the ability to quickly switch from big to small screen when others steal the TV has been really nice.

Yeah, off-tv play has been fairly useful my me and my wife.

Off-TV play was my best friend, when it comes to my playthrough of Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge.

Have a hard time playing through M-Rated games, since I have two brothers that are too young to play them at the moment. Just used Off-TV play, when I was in the mood for it, and swapped it back, when I knew I had the room to myself. lol
This user really likes SEGA Saturn. Avoid at all costs.

I actually use this quite a bit myself, and I can't believe I forgot to consider this about the screen when commenting before. This is a nice feature.

Don't you guys find the controller screen to be too low quality? I mean I bought this console to see Nintendo games in HD, why would I go to a screen that looks worse than the 3DS?

anyway, played a bit more zelda, and waiting for my paycheck next month to explore some killer indie games. Thankfully the console seems to be blessed in that regard, since nintendo fans are pretty hard core and thus get many awesome indie games

Well, my interest in the Wii-U just dropped a bit since I found out Sonic Lost World is coming to Steam.

I don't find the controller screen to be low quality at all. Not sure where you've got the idea it's worse than 3DS.

Sonic: Lost World is just OK. It's just a Sonic game that isn't broken.

The Wii U GamePad screen has been fine in my experience. It's a 480P screen (Which isn't HD, but the TV images are), the 3DS' images are like half that resolution.

It might depend on the game, as well. But most everything I've played by Nintendo has looked indistinguishable in quality from the GamePad to my TV. They're being rendered in different resolutions, but it suits each display.

I think the only Nintendo made game that looks noticeably better on the TV is Mario Kart 8.

I'm kind of curious to see what you're talking about it "looking worse than a 3DS".

The screen is 854x480(FW-VGA), which is the native widescreen resolution equivalent of 480P (no stretching) so the aspect ratio is not botched.

But it looks pretty great for the screen resolution and generally it does not look a whole lot worse than a TV because of its smaller size.
