Is it even worth it to buy a xbox360 or ps3?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

A PS3 is about $200 cheaper than a gaming PC. A gaming PC does about 5x more than a PS3 can do. (Likely more in the right hands.) Which one is the better deal?

I paid £450 for the parts my gaming rig. That's only £150 more than a PS3 in this country and it wipes the floor with anything I run on it.

The one that has the games you want to play? Which for me hasn't been a PC for about 5 years (not counting games with PC releases that i'd just prefer to play on the couch, in front of the TV).

I stopped the whole PC Gaming deal after Crysis. At that point, I realized that it would cost way to much to upgrade my PC (actually, at this point, I'd have to buy a new one; my mobo has the best of everything that it supports and it still can't run Crysis), and I was already pretty much sick of the whole "Buy a PC every 6 months" mentality of most games. At least with a console, I only have to buy a new one every 4+ years AND the games are guaranteed to work as long as the developers/porters aren't leprous retards.

After checking NewEgg to see how much it would cost to build a computer that can run Crysis at a somewhat decent speed (about 35 FPS, I believe), I believe all the parts came to about $1000+. That's just the tower and all of its components too, that's not including a good monitor, sound system or high-quality mouse/keyboard combo. The prices may have dropped since I last checked, but seeing as that was only about 3-4 months ago, I doubt it dropped by much.

My computer can run MAME very well, as well as Team Fortress 2. That's about all I'll be using it for, unless an Alienware magically falls from the skies. The only future upgrade I'll be doing to it will probably be an ungraded processor, as that's the only thing I need to upgrade to play Left 4 Dead comfortably. I gotta say, if it weren't for Valve, I'd definitely long have forsaken the PC Gaming scene that didn't have to do with emulation.

I'm sorry but I have a "decent" gaming PC and it's total value right now is actually less than $600. And guess what? It runs every 360 port that comes it's way even better than a 360 can.

Also, 90% of all the console games I want, seem to come to my PC months later. Maybe I just have a specific taste.

the7k, who gives a SHIT about Crysis? It was a completely mediocre game hyped up by the press. There's nothing special about it. Crysis is NOT "most games". Most games dont expect you to upgrade your PC every 6 months. Only shitty games by shitty developers, who are working together with hardware pushers.

PC is all I need to fill my desire for cutting edge games. I don't replace my PC every 6 months. More every 3-4 years. Are you calling me a liar? I'm so tired of these completely false beliefs.

Not always true. Resident Evil 4 and Lost Planet are good examples granted Capcom makes some of the shittiest ports ever. Hell Lost Planet pissed me off so bad that I never reloaded it and ended up selling it to a friend. When I got my 360 I bought it for $12(way cheaper than you will find it on the pc) and its been a great experience. Great game.

Also the whole used game thing is another reason that I like my new 360. Pc games seem to take about 4 fucking years to even reach the $20 mark, vs 360 games will hit that new in a year, and be $10 used.

Of course this whole PC vs consoles conversation has been had way too many times across the net and it never really ends.

RE4 and Lost Planet are completely average games. I played RE4 on Cube and then PC. I had the exact same experience. Lost Planet just isn't fun to begin with. I dont understand the following for that game, but at least it came to PC.

What world do you live in? PC games are ALWAYS 10-20 dollars cheaper than their console versions, and they ALWAYS go down in price long before the console versions. Shit, look at Grid. I was just in EB, looking at Grid on PS3 and PC. It was $45 used on PS3. It was $30 brand new on PC. Just one of countless examples. Once you've built the machine, PC gaming saves you tons of money. Even in controllers. There are tons of good PC game controllers, wireless and all, very well reviewed, that never seem to break $30. But back at EB on PS3, Sony's controllers are $55!! There is no excuse for this shit. It's robbery. I constantly feel sorry for people who have been suckered into this generation.
