Yup, there's mobile version of some of the FFs. I also have a few JRPG styled games by Kemco of all people.

A mobile game can be, and should be, fun when is designed with the limits and strenghts of the device in mind. From what i can see from a video you only control the ship and it's direction while the ship autofires everything for you, so with that compromise i can see this being fun.

You actually do control the direction of fire as well. It's like Geometry Wars or Super Stardust.

And thanks to everyone for making me feel slightly less guilty about liking the game!

It's garbage that would normally be hidden by overscan, yeah.

Overscan region yes. Sometimes you'll see nametable mirroring glitches there. Since developers needed somewhere to dump those artifacts onscreen, they wisely chose to do so in the overscan region. Some emulators like FCEUX allow you to enable clipping 8px on the left and right sides to hide them.
