Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Just realized: you can play Dragon Slayer parts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 on a Retron 5 (but not parts 2 and 8...). Legacy of the Wizard is #4.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Talking about a series that has no bounds..
Next installment Far Cry Primal, not sure if this is a smaller game such as Blood Dragon however still excited of course. If in fact true player vs player custom levels are allowed I'll be looking to remake some Turok MP levels since most likely would fit the theme well. Shall we see.

If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

I wish I liked vintage NeoGeo games more. The artwork remains amazing but the gameplay of classics like Fatal Fury:KoF and Art of Fighting are zero fun to play.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Yeah, some of the older titles definitely haven't aged well in terms of gameplay, agreed. "Fortunately" for me, I'm kinda terrible at most 2d fighters but I enjoy playing them anyway so the fact that they didn't age well doesn't bother me that much because they mostly get played in button mashing form in my household.
Gunning for a licensed NES NTSC-U set, follow the madness and poverty here!
Cheat sheet of my collection, always looking to increase it. 405/677 licensed games, 46/"95" unlicensed

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I can't believe I'm really going to say this but....
I think I actually like a mobile game.
On a whim I downloaded Asteroids Gunner on my iphone. It's basically a twin stick shooter and is, of course, controlled completely by the touch screen.
It's decent fun and the controls actually work pretty well.
I find all of this very disconcerting....

Despite our love for console and PC games, this is where the action is with regard to game designs. (Also, there is no shame in liking a particular game. If you like it, you like it.)marlowe221 wrote:I think I actually like a mobile game.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
A mobile game can be, and should be, fun when is designed with the limits and strenghts of the device in mind. From what i can see from a video you only control the ship and it's direction while the ship autofires everything for you, so with that compromise i can see this being fun.marlowe221 wrote:I can't believe I'm really going to say this but....

There are many great mobile games out there! Heck, we even did Pinball Arcade as a Together Retro title back in August. I like to collect them on my tablets.marlowe221 wrote:I can't believe I'm really going to say this but....

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I really do need to get a tablet (or a better phone) at some point. There are some really great adventure games available for them, and I am tired of waiting for them to get ported to the Wii U.
(I played through Year Walk (Wii U)recently, which started as a mobile game. It was excellent, and I would really like to try out some of the developers other games, such as Device 6. I would also really like to play Her Story at some point, which is also available for tablets.)
