Just watched the first three episodes of Moonbeam City and it's kinda amazing. Unique humor for sure though, we'll see if they can last past a single season.

I have the sneaking suspicion that the arc of this season of Castle is really going to piss me off when it reaches its climax. I'm too invested in the Castle-Beckett pairing and the climax is not going to make this shit worth it.

Two more episodes to go in season two of True Detective. The first season was amazing for its fantastic mix of existential horror and a Lovecraftian vibe of "something supernatural lurking just below the surface of what we perceive" (an allusion made explicit in the naming of Carcosa). I've missed these 'otherworldly' elements in Season two, but it's still a well-executed gritty cop drama with some great performances. It's a joy to see Rachel McAdams playing something other than a fresh faced prom queen, and it's the best performance I've ever seen out of Vince Vaughn (not a huge fan). He carries off a sense of implied menace well. In both location and themes this season seems to be going for a noir L.A. Confidential vibe, and thus far has really done a bang-up job of it. Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out.

After finishing Season 2, I determined that True Detective is my favorite TV series right now.nullPointer wrote:Two more episodes to go in season two of True Detective. I love True Detective, though yes Season 2 is a very different animal from Season 1. I'm actually kinda surprised you both say you like S2 so much, the majority of people I've talked to/read online have said they hated it compared to the first, which makes me wonder if anyone other than me thought S2 was good too. Very different, like I say, but still good -- it holds over the noir elements of S1, but not much else.

I think people were just underprepared for how different it was from Season 1. I love the kind of story that was told in Season 2, felt like Heat or Collateral, urban noir. I'm dying for S3.KalessinDB wrote:I love True Detective, though yes Season 2 is a very different animal from Season 1. p.s. I think the only thing that bring S2 slightly under S1 for me was the lack of a unified directorial vision. I hope that next season brings back the one director per season that Season 1 had.

I see you aren't a big fan, but I would argue for his role in Clay Pigeons. Vaughn does best as a criminal or psycho. Or psychotic criminal.nullPointer wrote: best performance I've ever seen out of Vince Vaughn (not a huge fan).
Been breaking into Breaking Bad, on the third season now I believe. (Pun intended even though it was poorly planned). Good show, and the song about Heisenburg and the cartel will forever be one of my favorite fake Tejano (not sure if its Tejano, closest genre I can think of) song.

Slowly getting into watching Boardwalk Empire - I'm no fan of Steve Buscemi, but Stephen Graham I warm to, one of my favorite actors.

AHS: Freak Show's finally on NetFlix!!!
Why the fuck doesn't Hulu have the series and put the episodes on there the right way, with each episode added the next day?
