Since I own Undead Nightmare but haven't played it yet, that's what I'm playing this month. If I can find a copy of Dead Rising, I may play that as well.

A lot of good games on that list. If you want an actual scare, I recommend Dead Space 1. But you must play it alone, in the dark at night, with surround sound.

Cool, I know Red Dead Undead probably flew under a lot of people's radar so I'm glad I remembered to find a copy. Dead Rising and Dead Space I downloaded ages ago and forgot so I'll check those out most likely.

I do have a rule no horror games before midnight so I'll definitely be playing late in the dark, no surround sound unfortunately but I can keep that in mind for the future I know if makes a big difference.

As for movies am I the only person who seen and likes The Stuff?
If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

If you don't have the space for a surround sound setup, you could buy a headset. They can be pricey so you may want to check out refurbished if cost is an issue. Turtle Beach sells refurbs on their site.

yesterday my wife got me this addition for my jazz collection:

Image

If y'all don't know, Philly Joe Jones played with everyone back in the day. This album is sort of based around a Spike Jones routine parodying Bela Lugosi's Dracula. It's fun stuff.

THEN my wife made dinner. And whatever you guys ate last night, I guarantee was not this awesome...

Image

MUMMY DOGS!!!

And before bed we suffered through...

Ghoulies III is terrible. But we're trying to watch a bunch of movies that we either have never seen or haven't seen in a really long time. And thanks to prfsnl's Secret Santa gift, we have some stinkers to check out haha.

So yeah Ghoulies III is pointless. It's about two college fraternities pulling pranks (actually they call them "yanks") on each other. And then a professor summons the Ghoulies and they pull pranks/yanks on them and the professor turns evil. It's... I don't even know. It's like Animal House with Ghoulies? There's very little violence or gore for a 'horror' movie, and really only one scene of T&A which seems low for a 'college comedy' so really no idea what this is. That being said, it was entertaining in a "why are we watching this and how did it even get made?" sort of way.

Last night, my wife and I watched:

Image

I Walked with a Zombie (1943). It is a fun and very loose adaptation of Jane Eyre set in the West Indies. In it, a young nurse goes travels to the island of Saint Sebastian to care for the invalid wife of a sugar baron. She quickly becomes immersed in the world of voodoo, and it becomes apparent that the mysterious fever that caused the wife's illness has supernatural origins. The voodoo zombies in this film are obviously quite different from the ghouls in most modern zombie films, but the film is nonetheless very effective (particularly for its era). Jacques Tourneur's direction is also brilliant, and the film contains some stunning (and haunting) black-and-white imagery. I recommend it.

We also watched:

Image

Village of the Damned (1960). In this film, an invisible force renders an entire English village unconscious for several hours. When they all wake up, every fertile woman in the town is pregnant, and seven months later, they all give birth to very strange children. The children develop very quickly, display genius level intelligence, can read and control other's thoughts, have "striking" eyes, and have a "hive" mentality. They are also completely amoral and completely bent on both self-preservation and the establishment of "colonies" throughout the world. The inimitable George Sanders stars as their teacher, who first tries to protect them and then realizes that he is the only person capable of destroying them. Despite its age, the film is genuinely creepy, and (particularly as a parent) I found the protagonists' options at the end of the film horrifying (even if the children weren't really theirs). I also highly recommend this film to any fan of classis horror films (or classic science fiction films, for that matter), and I am looking forward to watching its sequel later this month.

Awesome. My children would love those, and I will definitely make them (perhaps even this weekend).

oh don't get me wrong - this was a gem. Just a terrible gem haha. The truth is we've seen so many 'classics' that it gets to a point where it's almost as fun to see really bad things that we've missed out on.
