For example, there is a Parodius for SNES, but there are 3 Super Famicom games in that article, none of which seem to mention a PAL release.
It also doesn't mention which game is in the Saturn release either. I think I've heard there are two?

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
So frustrated with people. I am seeing firsthand the backlash of Kickstarter. People who back kickstarter projects are, for the most part, complete assholes.
Armikrog came out yesterday and the complaints about the game are unbelievable. Are you ready for this?
"I backed this game and it doesn't support my 6 monitor setup. How could they fuck that up!?"
"This game is so glitchy, I can't solve this puzzle! They need to get their shit together" (they just didn't understand the puzzle.)
"Excuse me, you have some improper translation in the russian subtitles! Seriously how could you mess this up?"
"This game is NOTHING LIKE THE NEVERHOOD! I PAID FOR THE NEVERHOOD, NOT THIS GARBAGE!"
"THere isn't a First Person mode? Seriously!? Get to the modern age of gaming guys!"
"You guys are stuck in the 80's! No resume button on the title screen? This game sucks!"
"How is this a final product when the cutscenes don't run at 4096 × 2304! SERIOUSLY GUYS!? DON'T BUY THIS GAME!"
...sigh.

Huh? Well...no.pierrot wrote: The short answer is that they're all Parodius Da! The more generous answer is that the SNES, NES and Game Boy games are each Parodius Da!, and the Saturn/PS1 version is a compilation of Parodius Da! and Gokujo Parodius.
There is:
1988 - Parodius (MSX, later ported on the MSX compilations for SAT-J / PS1-J)
1990 - Parodius Da! (Arcade, FAMI, GB, PCE, PS1-J (deluxe pack), SAT-J (deluxe pack), SFC, X68000)
1994 - Gokujo Parodius / Fantastic Parodius / Fantastic Journey (Arcade, SFC/SNES-PAL, PS1-J (deluxe pack), SAT-J(deluxe pack)
1995 - Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius (SFC, SAT-J, PS1-J)
1996 - Sexy Parodius (Arcade, SAT-J, PS1-J)
All 5 games are different; in fact, all of the ports have their own differences. Added characters, missing stages, etc. The series turned into strategy games...and then pachinko games after 1997.
So, if one wanted, they could get all (5) Parodius games by purchasing the (4) SAT-J or PS1-J releases as outlined above.

So....the NES and GB PAL parodius games are Parodius Da! and the SNES PAL release is Gakujo Parodius? And Saturn is both?mjmjr25 wrote:Huh? Or are there 2 PAL SNES releases and I'm confused.
I wish they hadn't just called them all 'Parodius'. It's even worse than all the Contra games being called 'Probotector'

Wow that's not confusing at all.
Once you finish all those Parodius games make sure you try the two Ys IVs.

I still need to get around to the other 'Wonder Boy 3' and the 3 or 4 'Shinobi's that aren't on Game Gear.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Wow that's not confusing at all.

Make sure you hit up the arcade, NES, Game Gear, Master System, and Xbox "Ninja Gaiden" games while you're at it.

Focusing only on SFC / SAT; as that is where most people play them...alienjesus wrote: So....the NES and GB PAL parodius games are Parodius Da! and the SNES PAL release is Gakujo Parodius? And Saturn is both?

Think of it this way - Parodius 1, Parodius 2 (Da!), Parodius 3 (Gokujo), Parodius 4 (Jikkyo), Parodius 5 (Sexy)
Parodius 1 is on SATURN-JP "MSX Antiques" compilations.
Parodius 2 is on SFC standalone. It is also on SAT-JP as part of the Da! Deluxe Pack.
Parodius 3 is on SFC standalone (PAL and JP release). It is also on SAT-JP as part of the Da! Deluxe Pack.
Parodius 4 is on SFC and SAT-JP.
Parodius 5 is on SAT-JP.
So, if we were to write it up as a buyers guide - it would look like this:
Super Famicom:
Parodius Da!: From Myth to Laughter
Gokujo Parodius: Pursue the Glory of the Past
Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius: Forever with Me
These are the only 3 Parodius games on Super Famicom. They could also be called Parodius 2, 3, and 4. Parodius 3 was released in PAL land as "Fantastic Journey".
Sega Saturn - Japan
MSX Antiques Collection (contains Parodius 1)
Parodius Da! Deluxe Pack (contains Parodius Da and Gokujuo Parodius; #'s 2 and 3)
Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius (parodius 4)
Sexy Parodius (parodius 5)
This is all 5 Parodius games over 4 games. 1 is on a compilation, 2 and 3 were released as a set, 4 and 5 are standalone releases.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Are we sure about Fantastic Journey for PAL SNES? If it exists it must be super duper rare, because I can't find any evidence of it's existence at all
So I did know that there were 5 games, and I even knew which platforms they were released on. But I only knew the Japanese names, so I wasn't aware of which versions the PAL games were. That was my problem! The info is helpful though.
