Random Gaming Thoughts
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
Hats never seem to fall off in video games. Bayou Billy's hat never moves, even after being pile driven.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
That was one of the coolest things about Super Mario 64 when it came out. Not only was it mind blowing to be playing Mario in 3D, not only were the graphics AMAZING, but there were all these little touches. Like Mario losing his hat. The wind can blow it off, or a monkey can steal it.Luke wrote:Hats never seem to fall off in video games. Bayou Billy's hat never moves, even after being pile driven.

Don't you play everything on the highest difficulty? Hell, weren't you like really into Tribes or other shooter like that?Ack wrote:I found it really easy. Because that might skew your view a bit

Well...ok, granted, I suppose some of my gaming habits would be considered obscene by others. But I was way more into Team Fortress Classic.Erik_Twice wrote:Don't you play everything on the highest difficulty? Seriously though, Dead Space was easy. You start with the best weapon in the game for dropping regular enemies, and if you never switch, ammunition will be plentiful. All you have to do is figure out which joints to shoot on each enemy type with the plasma cutter to remove limbs. Once you figure out how to dismember the enemy, you then figure out the most cost-effective means to do it in the fastest time. My personal preference? Saw off a necromorph's leg first to reduce speed and then their arms to reduce their offensive capabilities(and likely kill them in the process. Most things in the game don't survive the loss of a few limbs). Two or three shots, and you're done.
Also get used to which orientation to keep the plasma cutter in. Vertical for legs, horizontal for arms usually worked the best for me, but not always. Walking around, I would keep it on vertical orientation. So if I walked into a room that had three necromorphs, I would immediately target each one's legs and then take my time finishing the job. And then I would stomp them, to be sure everything was taken care of.
Seriously though, never switch weapons in Dead Space. The more guns you pick up, the greater variety of ammunition you'll receive, which will result in you getting less for any individual weapon. Also, picking up different weapons means you will have to spread out your upgrades. Instead, focus on maxing out one weapon at a time, and then swapping out with the next weapon and focusing on it while learning all of its ins and outs.

Hahaha, don't worry Ack, I haven't actually played Dead Space, I was just curious.
The upgrade system does seem heavily flawed given how you describe it, though.

No worries. The way it works, you have to find these gold discs that have to be slotted into your weapons and armor. There are only so many in the game, though you can go the New Game+ route at the end and keep all of your current upgrades, thus letting you eventually max everything out. If you only pick up one weapon at a time and repeatedly upgrade it, then you should max it out without issue. But picking up a variety means you have to pick and choose which one you will want to upgrade in which way, making for an overall tougher experience.
Also, if you're into hunting for achievements, you have to get so many kills with each weapon. I find it best to do that by going with the one-weapon-at-a-time trick and cycling through everything in order so you make sure to max out all weapons and get the necessary kills.

Yup pretty much i agree with 99% of this. But i use horizontal shots for legs and vertical for arms. The game is easy thats why i put myself through silly rules like, not buying ammo or health from store's, playing on hard, only ussing the plasma cutter (only thing i bough from the store was the upgrade nodes). In DS2 for a moment i tough i broke the gama by chapter 5 since i got the cutter to all the damage upgrades and the special so the enemies went down on two shots, later they throw the black variant that are more resistant. In DS2 even when i never got any other weapons the game still gave me ammo for the rest and i had the bank full of ammo to sell later on... but i barely needed to.Ack wrote:
I didnt have any problem with blasting limbs for 10 chapter until the last section of the game, hordes of enemies are not hard they just become tedious after the first 3-4. That hordes of tedious enemies goes for at least two chapters.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
so Project Spark is going to be free soon. I've heard the title but didn't even know what it is. It's like... Little Big Planet or something?
