FDS and GBA versions of Castlevania have a save system.

Of course, I still can't beat it.

I know. I have the same reaction whenever I see a PC game.

I'm kidding noise. I would totally snag that (I actually don't own any of the Castlevania games on NES), but it's oddly pricey.

I'm also kind of debating getting the disk versions of the first two games. (LOL NO IM NOT JUST LOOKED UP EBAY PRICES DAMN)

Get the MS-DOS port (which, coincidentally, is definitely the best first Castlevania game to play).

EDIT: Nevermind. It's $150!

Damn. You people need to check prices before you make suggestions

Stick with the NES versions, Bone. If you go cart only, those three will only set you back $50 total

You're right, it is. I've had it twice before. I just didn't keep it the 2nd time as I was offered pretty good money for it as someone really wanted it and seeing I had everything but SuperC already on cart I let it go. That emulator can also play various other games, some right, quite a few not so right, and some not at all.

I think it's a victim of the NEStalgia hipster price wars thing going on against old 8/16bit Nintendo console games. People saw an easy out, and the price went up a lot as I used to see it in stacks for a couple of years at Half Price Books where it couldn't be cleared out for $3-5. Once the carts though started all going for $10-25/ea it vanished.

Also if my memory is serving me right, the DOS version of Castlevania was fairly well awesome and I think it had a cool sound track if you didn't run it through the PC Speaker. KOnami sucks for not exploiting all their badass NES/arcade ports of the late 1980s/1990 from the PC on GOG.COM. I think a lot of people wouldn't balk at popping like $5 for their titles as they had a nice selection. I know I'd snap up a few.

I did a little digging, it would be worthy but I doubt possible with licensing issues at least in one case. The Simpsons Arcade game would be that one as it was a boxed PC game they did around 1990. There's also COntra, Super Contra, Castlevania, Double Dribble, Rush'n Attack, TMNT, Top Gun, Jackal, Blades of Steel, and even Circus Charlie, and I think there was Metal Gear too.
