I love Amiibo, but I'm terrified if I buy one I won't be able to stop haha. I've been selling off my entire game collection with the exception of the latest games...don't need to replace those with these little figurines.

I don't blame you. They're fun to stare at on my desk. The 9 I have as of today become 12 next week with that 3 pack coming out.

Thankfully my double monitor work setup on this desk works where I can line up the things along the bases of both of them and smaller ones like Pac-Man can sit up on the exposed feet edges in front of the screens without blocking. I will admit I did buy one just because it was being cleared out, Bowser like 3 weeks ago, but it looks nice. I'm actively not going after the mario and zelda stuff other than the toon link and 8bit red/brown mario I have. Just the old 8/16bit franchise stuff is about where I draw the line.

The only one I really really want and about to break down on is Mega Man...and maybe that chunky 8-bit Mario..and maybe...god damnit.

Snagged a Dr. Mario at target today. There were a few, really surprising, as my local stores usually have exactly jack and shit when it comes to exclusive figures.

And now my amiibo wall is full. Balls. I have to redo it so they'll all fit while not being used. (I have 38 of these freaking things!? What's happened to me? Damn you, Nintendo!) I really can't understand the people whom are buying two of every one, now.

Toys R Us is just too far for me to casually check, so I rarely do.
I guess next week Toys R Us is having a sale on amiibo, buy one get one 40% off.

TRU usually charges $14 instad of $13, but right now they have a 3 for $33 sale on any one of them making them $11 each.

Target I got my mario at had probably 20 Dr Marios on a full shelf next to the hanging pegs, was crazy seeing so many.

I have Mega Man it is a really nice figure. I may try it out on MM Collection 3DS when the physical one comes out next year in winter.

It's more the OCD "one to open, one to keep sealed", and buying multiples for trades, or re-sell that I'm annoyed with.

It's not like some Playmates run or something. These things are really hard to find. It makes me feel bad for kids whom want to get certain figures, and they just have no chance, unless their parents are willing to brave the lines and pre-order madness going on, which is probably unlikely in most cases.

but do you think kids would want the ones that are really rare? I imagine theres not too many actual kids wanting fire emblem amiibo. I will say getting some extra of king dedede and meta knight back in wave 3 helped me trade to get a little mac and pit. s1mplehumar got extra lucario and shulk and sold them to me at cost, so there are good people out there in the collecting world that help out fellow collectors.

It was so much easier to get these things when I had a TRU near me. Still, my girlfriend is still randomly coming home with them....and still won't open any even though she wants to do so.

She practically waltzed in screaming that she found the cutest one ever yesterday because it "has friends" and was waving Olimar around.

I'd say outside of Fire Emblem and the Wii Fit Trainer any of those rares to a varying degree kids would be all over. Something like the Animal Crossing Villager I think would be pretty high on the list since that game is fun for any age and you can't die in it, perfect for little ones. The Kirby characters like Dedede and Meta Knight would be a couple others. Maybe to a point with Pit and Little Mac, but not so much as they're more specific though Pit does have that 3DS game of his own. I'd think anything Pokemon rare would be high on a kids list as well, basically anything out of Smash Bros in general that isn't directly adult oriented completely.
