Atari 7800 s-video mod board

Post by fredthezombie »

Does anyone know where I could get a pre-assembled mod board for s-video for the 7800? Ive seen mods like this done, and have seen the boards themselves floating around the internet sadly I never picked one up. All I can find are crappy composite boards these days. I found someone good with a soldering iron and I really want to play ball blazer with better visuals than awful rf.

The Longhorn Engineer

http://longhornengineer.com/deprecated- ... 7800-ntsc/

For some reason, his site isn't loading for me right now. Check later.

I don't think he's selling the kits anymore, but he has the parts lists, schematics, and full instructions on his site. If you found someone that can solder, he should be able to build that circuit on perf board without much trouble.

I haven't tried any Atari AV mods yet, but if I do, I'll be using the Longhorn version. I can't vouch for any of them since I haven't tried any, but Longhorn's always looked the best to me. At least, that's the impression that I got.

If you DO decide to use the one you linked, there's better places to shop for the parts than Radio Shit. They only have a small selection. The only panel mount RCA jacks they stock are black (no yellow, white, red, etc) and they have no panel mount S-Video jacks. And I doubt you'll be able to find all those resistor/cap values in stock. It gets annoying fast when you have to "make" resistors (multiple resistors in series/parallel). I'd suggest just ordering everything from DigiKey or some similar site (DigiKey is my favorite).
