(sorry if this is the wrong place to post)
I saw a posting for a NES on craigslist...it powers on but there is a blinking red light. If all it needs is a new pin connecter, I'm fine with replacing that myself but I was wondering if there were any other unfixable things that could cause a blinking red light?
I'm thinking of buying a broken NES...

doesn't the 'lockout' chip sometimes cause the blinking if it malfunctions? I know there's an easy mod to disable it.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

Re: I'm thinking of buying a broken NES...
must be selling it for dirt cheap or you must like fixing things... i know you can get similar systems that only blink half the time for pretty cheap or ones with a new pin connector that work great for cheap if you just want the console.
Re: I'm thinking of buying a broken NES...
it probably need a new pin connector but there are easier ways to clean the system without buying a new pin connector. I just went on google and typed clean the nes or clean the pin connector and there is a sight on how to pretty much make the nes brand new for cleaning the shell to all of the insides all you need is about an hour and a few cleaning supplies and when i tried this my system has never blinked again. Don't forget to clean your games also that really helps

I don't trust frontloading NESes at all. I've cut the security chip on them before, but then I still can't ever get the contacts clean.
