The counter argument from a good friend of mine is that he's never used ANY of his consoles for as long or as much as his 360. So it really doesn't surprise him that it would eventually crap out.
And does anyone here expect a launch PS2 to work? I'm amazed that mine still functions.

I would expect my 6 month old Elite to work. Wouldn't you?shallowgamer wrote:The counter argument from a good friend of mine is that he's never used ANY of his consoles for as long or as much as his 360. So it really doesn't surprise him that it would eventually crap out.

All 360s not just launch models are failing at alarming rates. Its a fault that Microsoft knew about before launch, but was to cheap to correct. Shame on them.

And a great deal of people seem to be perfectly fine with that, unfortunately. It's funny, but perhaps the fact that Microsoft's name is on it subconsciously prepared everyone to be accepting of this. Would Sony, Nintendo, or (gasp) Sega survived this?corn619 wrote:I would expect my 6 month old Elite to work. Sony survived exploding laptop batteries and PS2s that could burn down your house. I think they'd be ok.

Nintendo survived a console that could do permanent damage to your eyes, and they're not in any trouble these days.Ack wrote:Sony survived exploding laptop batteries and PS2s that could burn down your house. I think they'd be ok.

Didnt the first X-Box have a defective power cord that could be a fire hazard in some models??????
Re: My Xbox 360 is a douche-bag
So, I got this thing from Costco and several people have told me they are very nice about returning broken crap. My sister had an ipod that froze up for unknown reasons and they replaced it no questions asked. Anybody else want to share a similar experience?
Re: My Xbox 360 is a douche-bag
Yep, my model apparently has the defective power cord. I use it anyway. I just like living dangerously. I like the buzz it gives me knowing it could set on fire at any moment. It seems more bad-ass that way.IcKy99 wrote:Didnt the first X-Box have a defective power cord that could be a fire hazard in some models??????

Hey! They programmed in breaks! The big N is looking out for us!The Apprentice wrote:Nintendo survived a console that could do permanent damage to your eyes, and they're not in any trouble these days.Ack wrote:Sony survived exploding laptop batteries and PS2s that could burn down your house. All great examples, but not of the magnitude of the 360, wouldn't you agree?
I need to look into that first gen power cord issue as well!
Re: My Xbox 360 is a douche-bag
Happy Ending: I took my 360 in to CostCo after all and they switched it for me straight up for a gift card. Well, the price of 360's has gone down so I was able to use the same amount on my card to upgrade to an Elite. I'm so happy I avoided going through the customer support and all that garbage.
