Comfort Games
Re: Comfort Games
Indeed. It may have something to do with the maps I play. (I have the Creator's Edition for PC.) It's rare that I actually play with the original layout.

Re: Comfort Games
For me, comfort games are the ones, which make us feel easeful and comfortable. At leisure, I tend to try dress-up games or decorating versions. It is better to avoid shooting or fighting games.

Dress up games seem to be really popular with bots.

I have to say, this guy is the cutest forum bot I've ever seen.
Anyway, I have to throw in another vote for Sim City [SNES]; the game is just so basic and relaxing. Also Monopoly for Genesis, same reason really. It's repetitive; which I find calming. Shining Force because I'm so familiar with the game that it practically plays itself by route memory.
I also tend to like games which feature some sort of level design. I like the Sims for designing houses more than playing the game.
Check out my YouTube Channel DariaPlays for super nerdy video reviews on classic RPGs and Adventure titles. Bonus: I don't suck! Pinky-swear.

Re: Comfort Games
I have been thinking a lot about this topic the past several days. My job is very stressful (lawyer) and playing video games is a big part of how I unwind when I'm not working.
I will admit to being very tempted to buy the 3DS Animal Crossing for its relaxing qualities.
On the other hand, I'm kind of worried that it would actually be stressful because I know I wouldn't play it absolutely every day and I've read that your town goes to shit if don't work on it regularly.

Play non-violent puzzle platofmers like Braid, Donkley Kong (94), Fez, Teslagrad, or Toki Tori. They are incredibly relazing. (Fez was almost hypnotic.) They aren't too long; you can take your time with them; and you can play them at your leisure.
