Gameboy Player outputs in 480p with the cable, just so you know.
Yeah cause that sounds like something I need.
It doesn't matter what console you're playing, progressive scan is always going to look better than interlaced. If you don't have the component cable, those GBA games output in 480i.

If you don't care about image quality, then sure, you don't need the cable. But if you want the best image possible for Gamecube and GBA, then that's what you need. Especially GBA, seeing as you can get an almost equivalent component image of Gamecube games for much cheaper on a Wii anyway.

...Unless you have a European Gamecube, in which case RGB is probably a better option either way.

Or I could save $100 and pick up a CRT and an S-video cable. They are 2D games and SNES ports afterall.
Check out my YouTube Channel DariaPlays for super nerdy video reviews on classic RPGs and Adventure titles. Bonus: I don't suck! Pinky-swear.

That's what I did. S-video is the poor man's high-def.

Except Super Nintendo games look AMAZING in full unmolested RGB. And they are also in progressive scan, natively, which many CRTs do support (sort of).

Not saying people should spend the kind of cash GameCube component cables cost. I paid $30 for mine and felt like they were somewhat overpriced. Though, I haven't re-evaluated that with some more modern video equipment. Maybe they're amazing and I just didn't care.

Absolutely can't go wrong playing Skies of Arcadia. Is this your first time playing?

Nice pickups EE, all of them are solid or better games.

I haven't found much recently other then a couple of SpongeBob games, Animal Crossing and Pokemon: Gale of Darkness for cheap. Animal Crossing is in the auction and Pokemon is going to a friend, both are doubles.

Got them all complete and at decent prices too, at or below online going rates. I try to go local for my games in the past year or so. eBay just gets real crazy lately.

Couple things....

I sold my GC Component cable for an obsence figure last winter. Even if they go up another $100, I won't regret it. The price is/was crazy on those (I stopped paying attention after I sold mine). Not sure how far along the guy / guys are with making the HDMI mod for the GC. I expect that would sell at least... 500 units... quite handidly.

Consumer "component" video such as the GC companent cable is not RGB video. It is YPbPr.

Original GBA games do NOT scale integrally to 480p. Yeah, I also thought they looked pretty good on a GB Player in 480p... 10 years ago. Then I saw a true whole-multiplier upscale over HDMI (or even the WiiU's presentation of them).

Upscale to a 1080p LCD or LED just compounds the already zoomed image of GBA carts. On the HD CRT the GBA Player works very well. Just wait till the 4k TVs take hold, get ready to buy the Bluray movies all over again to whatever will be the 4k player resolution.
