$115 isn't a bad price at all and the video difference, for those that use it, is incredible. I could use my Wii but I don't have it out and would rather use the NGC since it goes straight to the game and no Wiimote needed.ExedExes wrote:Under $100 at first, I thought was a knockout price. Now it seems to be $150 or less. I got mine 2 years ago at $115. The difference in picture quality is worth it.jmbarnes101 wrote:I've managed to now acquire or am in the process of acquiring most of the NGC accessories I wanted. Also a big fan of the GC component cables. Can't say they are "worth" buying for anyone but collectors, now that you can easily buy a backwards compatible Wii with component cable included for half that price... but for collectors who want to play on the original hardware it's almost a must own.
Also got my cable from a seller here at Racketboy for a very reasonable price - somewhere around $80, when that was just under the going rate. The crazy increase in second hand pricing has made selling tempting, but I'm not convinced yet...
I heard that some working knock-offs were going to be available "soon", but came across that rumor months ago and haven't seen any proof yet. Might have been someone BSing with hopes of convincing others to sell at more reasonable rates. Frankly, I kind of hope it happens.

I do too. If there was a cheap alternative like around the price of an handheld game from back in the day I'd be up for it. I don't have a Wii, do really like the GC, but on my budget it's disgustingly unjustified to piss that much money on a piece of wire no matter how much nicer it could look on my TV. It's sad Nintendo mishandled it back in the day that badly not even retailing it at stores, but nothing near as sad as the way it's handled now.

Would it be nice if it was cheaper and more readily available? Absolutely and honestly I didn't think I'd ever own them. However as others have told me regarding the fee barrier around arcade entry "if you want to play you have to pay." Thankfully the Wii is a solution for those that can't find/afford the component cables and want the better picture.

Re: Ongoing GameCube discussion thread
Ehh it's not the same. I still play, and it's still sharp on my TV, just could be sharper, but it's not like I'm being denied a game so that's why it's just not worth it. It's not like I don't look when I see a ball of cables at any form of an outdoor sale, but there's no hope for it much like other oddities. Luck happens or not, but paying well in excess of $100 for a wire I can't do.

Re: Ongoing GameCube discussion thread
The component cable is pretty pointless over here in PAL land, as the 480p option isn't in most games, and if it is it requires an import Gamecube to work anyway.
If everythings going to run in 480i or 576i over here, might as well just use RGB SCART.

Re: Ongoing GameCube discussion thread
My gamecube is pretty much a glorified GBA player. So the cable would be a pretty pointless investment anyway.
