I'll go with my good ol Sega Genesis. A nice round of Sonic, Aladdin, and Jackson are always a fun time.

Gotta be the Mega Drive... Not the Genesis... the Mega Drive.

Dreamcast or a Turbo-Duo, nuts to the OP and his defined criteria of what is and isn't acceptable. the PC-E has amazing games, and the PC-CD also has many amazing games, therefore it would be like getting double for my money, same goes for the CDX. damn.

Definitely SNES. Two of my top 5 (3 if you count Doom) games of all time appeared on this system. With all the great RPGs, I'd never be without something to occupy my time. And with all the great multiplayer games (NBA Jam, TMNT 4, etc etc) if friends showed up on my desert island we'd have plenty to do! I played the SNES to death back in the early 90's, but it still runs like a dream. I dread the day when all the batteries in my carts decide to die...

Only if you consider US games. If you add in all the Japanese releases the library is anything but limited.Scooter wrote:The Saturn is a favorite, but has a limited library

who needs just a classic console when you could have a PC filled with emulators though, thats my vote, a gaming computer from 2005 packed with emulators and roms.

I think he's asking about authentic systems.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:who needs just a classic console when you could have a PC filled with emulators though, thats my vote, a gaming computer from 2005 packed with emulators and roms.
...if you only had to choose one TRUE classic system what would it be?

I had already said Saturn but then I got to thinking, why not just a computer with emulators?GSZX1337 wrote:I think he's asking about authentic systems.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:who needs just a classic console when you could have a PC filled with emulators though, thats my vote, a gaming computer from 2005 packed with emulators and roms.

Why would you want a 2005 gaming computer though - that would take out limit both PS2 and Dreamcast titles fairly severly...
To get on topic, probably an NES. I usually would say SNES no question, but the older I get the more and more I appreciate NES games. Sure the RPGs were better on the SNES, but I have Jackal, Blades of Steel, Silkworm, Dynowarz, and a many other titles that were not on it - and yes three of those were arcade titles...

I am talking about authentic systems not the roms and emulators that's just a cheap and easy way out. I do play roms and emulators on my laptop and yes I am being a hypocrite for doing this but I mean the classic systems. If I was to go to the flea market on sunday and I see a copy of contra or kid icarus for 5 or 10 each because now flea markets also go on ebay to check their prices only a few times lately will i see someone getting rid of stuff just to get rid of it anyways back to the subject I will spend the ten bucks and buy the game even though I can play it on my laptop its like I mentioned before it is not the same as to blowing into that cart grabbing that controller and pressing up up down down left right left right b a start at the title screen.
