This came as a shock to me. I would never have thought you would like Ys.

Level 8 of Cannon Fodder can fuck off. I'm actually more inclined to play Septerra Core over it.

That's a particularly long one. The final phase (Jeep Jump) is the worst. Just wait till you get to the ice levels, that is if you make it that far....

Found this screenshot of an old Famicom Disk System game called Fire Bam by HAL.

Look familiar, Kirby fans?

Metal Gear Solid gets so over the top is just HILARIOUS! At the end there's twist aftet twist after twist and can't do anything than smile and laught. This is great, now i remember why i enjoy revengence, because its nuts and over the top. The best part... i heard the other games just get more and more insane! I want it!

I'm looking for a game...

My wife and I had a lot of fun playing Her Story together. It was a game we could think about and discuss while playing. There was no action stuff, yet it was a lot more interactive than something like a visual novel. And it was an experience that we could feel satisfied with in a single evening. So I was trying to think of other games that might sort of fit this bill. It occurred to me that the Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective games probably are sort of similar - though I'm not sure how it would take to beat one. BUT having said that, neither of us are really big fans of Sherlock Holmes in general.

So can anyone think of similar games that aren't Sherlock ones?

Have you played the Phoenix Wright games? They are a bit wackier, but they require some investigation and critical thinking. They fall victim to some of the same issues as other adventure games, but they are a lot of fun (particularly the first game). Moreover, you can easily get through a case in a single evening, and the games should now be available on iOS and Steam.

I haven't played them. I don't mess w/ iOS, and I don't see them on Steam, though?

I don't *think* we want anything too wacky anyway. I feel like what I'm asking for is really specific. And it might not even exist because Her Story was just so perfect.
