we're playing D for Together Retro next month, so you're gonna have to fire up that sexy D2.

I'm definitely going to.

I fired up disc 4 to play the introduction movie. It was interesting! Definitely hasn't aged greatly, but I liked the dubbing efforts.

Totally worth it, especially the plane scene.

Oh you know I'm in, 3DO version for me! :)
No spoiler here, what are we gonna do for the rest of the month D is only 2 hours!!

I used GameStop online the other week for Operation Darkness and Warhammer Battle March, I think the shipping was only like 3 bucks too. Operation Darkness was Disc Only but Warhammer was Complete, still very nice deal and very low price. That Operation Darkness will be a very hard game to get in the future besides getting lucky finding it in the wild.

For those who don't know about Operation Darkness, think Valkyria Chronicles meets Fire Emblem plus Nazi's, vampires, werewolves and super natural.. For hardcore strategy players only, you've been warned!!

haha, that's what I kept saying when we were planning the TR calendar.

I beat the Saturn version a couple of years ago. I'm gonna play it on PC next month. After that I might attempt Enemy Zero, or play the totally unrelated D4 haha.

We should look into other 2hr horror romps, Home fits the bill. Noise good suggestions, Lunacy, Deadly Premonition!?

(Not totally derailment of this thread, GS carries retro now! Lol)

I never played Home. It's that sort?

I don't know anything about Lunacy.

Deadly Premonition is amazing. But not short. Totally amazing.

Usually October I just jump around from one macabre title to the next anyway.

So I've become really friendly with some of the guys at my local GameStop. For better or worse they let me test out games they have on their stations as long as they have a used copy.

GameStop seems to be improving on a higher corporate level too. The Rewards system seems far more generous than it used to.

I take it they are starting to feel the pressures of the digital age come down on them. The store is filled with lots of collectibles and merch. Still plenty of games to be certain - it just surprised me that equally as much space at this particular one I go to is filled with figurines and such.

Off/On Topic -I've got some thoughts on D. I totally plan on actually joining you guys for TR and actually completing it. I'll save my paragraphs for the thread when we get there.

Home is amazing and has to be finished within 2hrs, reminded of D from that aspect also fun for a couple of runs.

Lunacy I believe is similar to D not storywise but gameplay. By the looks of the title/cover it's probably twisted stuff.

Your right about Deadly Premonition, I put 25hrs in once you can free roam and have been lost ever since (the original Xbox release).

Starting October I'll probably be playing nothing but horror games anyways so looking forward to it!

Oh, D2?

Aged terribly, still love it. I'll check the TR thread to see if D2 is a part of the conversation.

My closest local gamestop is in a great location. It's in the same strip mall as a Staples, Micheal's, Pet Co., Five Guys, and a cigar shop. But they also share a wall with the cigar shop, which has two humidors, four leather couches and a huge tv where people gather and smoke. No joke, it's a great place to network as you never know who you may meet while having a smoke.

Problem: This makes the gamestop stink of tobacco. The GS smells just like the cigar shop, and even the games are starting to have a strong odor. I do smoke cigars, outside. I don't want my games smelling like a bing-o parlorso I asked the manager what was up and if they could do anything to stop the smell as other customers complained about the smell.

Since the stores rent the property, the property manager got involved, lawyers got involved, and now we have two store managers who are both pointing fingers and saying "He's hurting my business". It really has gotten to the point of being juvenile, and both of the store managers are being jerks, which isn't in their character.

The property manager made a no smoking rule for the cigar store. So in protest, the first day after the rule around a dozen people smoked outside near the door of the Gamestop. Lame.

In response, the manager of the GS calls the property manager anytime he catches someone smoking in the cigar store. Lame.

It's a very quien es mas macho situation, and I think it's going to get to a "I was here first" situation, as cigar stores/bars are for smoking.

Same here this is what I've noticed too in the last year to two. I'll walk in one when I'm near by, but I've probably bought something out of one on fingers to the hand in count for some years now. I've noticed they're more non-pushy proactive friendly and they'll chit chat about random whatever if they're not busy. You can try out stuff, you see all the collectibles, physical games, statues, plushies, etc. I haven't ever paid any attention to the rewards as they were skimpy and terrible last I cared to. I don't feel bad walking into one anymore but I haven't crossed the line into buying games as a regular resource there again.
